The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 08/01/2016:

Jasmen Harvey, 25 years of age, Address- Grizzaffi St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/01/2016 @ 5:00 pm. 

Charge:  Aggravated Battery
                Warrant- Failure to Appear-Speeding (St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office)

Kaylynn Driskill, 28 years of age, Address- Grizzaffi St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/01/2016 @ 17:00 pm. 

Charge:  Aggravated Battery

   Officers were dispatched to a residence on Grizzaffi St. in regards to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to Jasmen Harvey. According to reports, Harvey stated that she and her girlfriend, Kaylynn Driskill had gotten into a verbal altercation, which turned physical when Driskill began hitting her with a soap dispenser. Officers did notice bruising on Harvey's back. Officers also spoke to Kaylynn Driskill and she did confirm that she and Harvey had a verbal altercation, but it escalated, when Harvey struck her several times with a cell phone. Officers observed marks and bruising on Driskill's facial area. Both Harvey and Driskill were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. Harvey also held an active warrant for the Sixteenth Judical District Court. 

Marcus D. Battle, 41 years of age, Address- Plum St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 08/01/2016 @ 11:23 pm. 

Charge: No Headlights
               Driving Under Suspension
               Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
               Possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam with Intent to Distribute
               Obstruction of Justice- Tampering with Evidence
               Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
  
   A patrol officer in the area of Hwy 182 and Ditch Ave. observed a vehicle with only one functioning headlight. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Marcus Battle and he was asked to produce a valid driver's license.  A computer check revealed that Battle's driver's license was suspended. During the course of the investigation, Battle gave officers concent to search his vehicle. Before officers began the search, Battle grab a bag out of the vehicle and threw it onto the roadway. Officers were able to locate the bag and it contained a large amount of  suspected cocaine and several pills identified as Alprazolam. Also, located in the vehicle was U.S. Currency over $500 and the currency suspected to be from drug proceedings. Battle was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
