The Detective Section of the Morgan City Police Department investigates all major felony cases and other felonies, and misdemeanor cases.

Lieutenant Ricky Hartley has served the Morgan City Police Department since 1998. Lieutenant Hartley is presently assigned as the commander of the Criminal Investigations Division which oversees both Criminal and Narcotic Investigations. Lieutenant Hartley has performed many duties within the Morgan City Police Department including Patrol, Narcotics, Investigations, Corrections, and Sergeant.
