Arrest Report 04/09/2014

The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 04/08/2014:

 

Chinelle Prestenbach, 42 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/08/2014 @ 10:09am

Charge: Failure to Report an Accident; Simple Criminal Damage to Property; Careless Operation

Ms. Prestenbach was located at Assumption Parish Sheriff's Department and placed under arrest on a warrant stemming from an investigatioin into a vehicle crack which occurred in Morgan City on 08/07/2013 which damaged property at Lake End Park in Morgan City.  Prestenbach was accused of operating the vehicle then leaving the scene.  She was identified during the investigation and a warrant secured for her arrest.  She was booked and released after posting a cash bond.

A patrolling officer at Highway 182 and MLK Blvd. observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a red light signal and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, Jonathan Lindsey was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  Lindsey was also found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants.  He was placed under arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains incarcerated. 

 

Norris Paul Touchet, 42 years of age, Address-St. Martinville, La. was arrested on 04/08/2014 @ 12:12pm

Norris Touchet was located at St. Martinville Sheriff's Department and placed under arrest on a warrant accusing Touchet of committing the theft of a motor vehicle from the Morgan City area.  Touchet was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains incarcerated.

Officers were dispatched to a Brashear Ave. pharmacy in regards to a shoplifter.  Officers arrived and were advised that two females had taken items from the shelves, concealed the items in a bag and left the store without paying for the items.  Officers located the suspects in the parking lot and identified them as Kimberly Harris and Shantell Hall.  Both Harris and Hall were detained and upon examining video footage, both were observed  placing a total of 18 items in a bag and leave the store.  Both were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.  Once at the police department, Harris was found to have concealed several pills of Schedule IV controlled dangerous substances and introducing the items into the penal facility.  She was additionally charged. Both remain incarcerated.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle at Highway 182 and Ditch Ave. being operated by a driver who was not wearing the proper restraint as required.  The officer stopped the vehicle to investigate.  During the investigation, the driver, Donald Myers was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license and was subsequently arrested.  Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the vehicle contacted three large celophane bags containing several ounces of suspected marijuana.  During the investigation and the subsequent questioning, officers learned that the illegal substance was purchased in the Jeanerette area and being transported into the Morgan City area.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Improper Lighting (Two Headlights Required); Improper License Plate Illumination; Contributing to the Deliquency of a Juvenile (2 Counts)

An officer observed a vehicle in the area of Mayon St. and Marshall St. with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Stephen Shultz was identified and upon speaking with the driver, he appeared nervous and the officer detected strong odor of marijuana eminating from the vehicle.  During the encounter, officers located suspected marijuana inside the vehicle and items of drug paraphernalia.  The driver, Shultz was in the accompany of two male juvenile ages 15 and 16 who were also placed under arrest.  The subjects were transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Stephen Shultz was booked and incarcerated.  The two male juveniles were booked and released to family members pending court proceedings.

A patrolling officer encountered a vehicle being driven erratically near the intersection of Second St. and Brashear Ave. and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, Tonisha Knight could not produce a valid drivers license and was discovered to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

Officers observed a subject acting in a suspicious manner in the area near Union St. and stopped the subject to investigate.  The subject, Matthew Miller was found to possess several pieces of suspected crack cocaine.  He was arrested, transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Officers were dispatched to a Brownell Homes residence in regards to illegal narcotics activity.  Officers arrived at that location and encountered several subjects.  Upon speaking to the subjects they appeared nervous and had signs of illegal drug use.  Two subjects, Nhirobi Dewey and Dequante Wesley were found to possess suspected marijuana and were subsequently arrested.  The area is a public housing area deemed as a drug free zone.  The subjects were additionally charged.  They were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle in the area of Seventh St. and Willard St. to have improper lighting and window tint which obscured the inward view of the vehicle and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Darren Fisher and the passenger, Lynette Gant.  Officers detected a strong odor of suspect marijuana in the vehicle.  During the investigation, suspected marijuana was located along with a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics.  The passenger, who admitted possession of the paraphernalis was also found to be wanted for an outstanding warrant.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Federal Ave. and Brashear Ave. and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, Jakia Ray was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a lounge in the 500 block of First St.  When officers arrived, they discovered an injured subject with lacerations to the face and head.  Acadian Ambulance was summoned to render treatment to the subject.  During the investigation, it was learned that another subject, Luke Fears had committed a battery on the subject causing injuries which resulted in the victim requiring medical treatment.  Fears, who had already left the area was located at his Bayou Vista residence and placed under arrest.  The victim was treated at Teche Regional for fractures and lacerations.  Fears was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

A vehicle was stopped on Highway 182 near David Dr. after the vehicle was observed to have improper lighting.  The driver of the vehicle, Lance Lovell was discovered to have a suspended drivers license.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

Michael D. Mckinnon, 21 years of age, Address-Mars Rd. Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 04/05/2014 @ 6:34am

Charge: Disturbing the Peace; Criminal Damge to Property

Officers were dispatched to a Bush St. residence regarding a disturbance.  Upon arrival, the complainant and witnesses advised that Michael Mckinnon was involved in a disturbance at the residence by being involved in an arguement in the front yard at that location.  During the disturbance, Mckinnon attempted to break a window and subsequently damaged a panel on the complainants vehicle.  Mckinnon was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

Tessa M. Pilgrim, 35 years of age, Address-Fifth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/05/2014 @ 9:48am

Charge: Create/Operate a Clandestine Lab for the Unlawful Manufacture of CDS; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Methamphetamine; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Illegal Use of Controlled Drug in the Presence of Persons under the age of 17, Warrant: Failure to Appear-Shoplifting

Officers were summoned to a Fifth St. residence in regards to suspected drug activity at that residence.  Officers arrived and located what appeared to be a clandestine lab used to make methamphetamine.  Narcotics detectives were summoned to the scene to investigate and located a female, Tessa Pilgrim and two children ages 1 year old and 3 years old in the residence.  Narcotics detectives secured the scene and discovered a small clandestine lab which was in the process of producing methamphetamine.  Several syringes which contained suspected methampetamine were also located.  A crew was summoned to the scene to clean up the hazardous materials.  The suspect, Pilgrim was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  Investigators transported the children to a medical facility to be evaluated due to the hazardous environment.  They were released to relatives.  Tessa Pilgrim was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

Officers were dispatched a a Barrow St. residence regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived and identified one of the persons involved as Kiana Butler who was discovered to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

An officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 182 and identified Shelby Williams as a passenger in the vehicle.  Wiliams was found to be a wanted person for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department and was arrested on the outstanding warrant.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Kedesha Scott was located at an Idaho St. residence and placed under arreste on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

Jonathan Ruffin, 26 years of age, Address-James St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/06/2014 @ 3:50am

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Illegal Possession of Stolen Things-Firearm; Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS; Warrant: St. Mary Parish-Criminal Neglect of Family

Officers were dispatched to the Waffle House located on Highway 182 regarding a vehicle accident.  Officers arrived and were advised that a vehicle had struck a motorcycle in the parking lot.  Officers located the vehicle and were provided a description of the driver of the vehicle.  The vehicle, which was abandoned with the door open was secured by the officers and found to contain suspected marijuana in plain view.  During the investigation. the driver was identified as Jonathan Ruffin.  Ruffin admitted that he was the driver and that the objects inside the vehicle belonged to him.  Officers searched the vehicle and recovered a bag which contained several pieces of suspected crack cocaine which was beleived to be intended for sale.  Also located in the vehicle was a .357 cal. handgun which was discovered to have been reported as stolen from Lafourche Parish.  It was also recovered.  Ruffin, who was a convicted felon was additionally charged.  Ruffin was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for St Mary Parish authorities for criminal neglect.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

Artis Jones, 18 years of age, Address-Birch St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/06/2014 @ 10:46pm

Charge: No Driver License; Improper Lighting; Possession of Schedule I CDs-Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle after it was observed to have improper lighting in the area of Front St. and Franklin St.  The driver, Artis Jones approached the officer and was observed to have a handrolled cigarette of suspected marijuana lodge behind his ear.  It was recovered by the officer.  Officers also located items of paraphernalia used to consume illegal narcotics in the vehicle.  The driver, Jones did not have a valid drivers license.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
