🚔 CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION UPDATE 🚔

Alan Granger

On January 7, 2026, at approximately 9:15 PM, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint regarding a vehicle that was reported stolen from a local business.

On January 8, 2026, at approximately 1:39 AM, officers located the vehicle and Alan Granger (35 years old), of Lee Street in Franklin, Louisiana, was observed driving the stolen vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation continued following the arrest.

Mr. Granger was initially arrested and charged with:
• Possession of Stolen Things

As the investigation continued, the Morgan City Police Department Detective Division was able to obtain video evidence confirming that Mr. Granger was, in fact, the suspect who stole the vehicle several hours prior. As a result, Mr. Granger was subsequently booked on additional charges related to the stolen vehicle investigation, including:
✅ Theft of a Motor Vehicle
✅ Criminal Trespassing

In addition, during the booking process at the Morgan City Police Department, Mr. Granger attempted to escape custody. As a result of that incident, he was also charged with:
✅ Battery of a Correctional Officer
✅ Battery of a Police Officer
✅ Attempted Simple Escape

Mr. Granger was quickly apprehended and was never able to exit the facility.

Mr. Granger was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he remains while awaiting court proceedings.

The swift recovery of this vehicle was made possible due to the continued investment by the City of Morgan City in public safety technology, including FLOCK Safety cameras installed throughout the city. These cameras assisted investigators in identifying the vehicle as it left the city and later returned several hours later, helping officers recover the vehicle quickly and safely. The Morgan City Police Department would also like to recognize the vigilant work of the Patrol Division, whose continued efforts and awareness were instrumental in locating the vehicle.

As always, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
