MCPD Offers Advisories for 90th Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival

As the 90th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival begins on Thursday August 28, 2025, through Labor Day, we want to remind our citizens about the flow of traffic, parking around the Lawrence Park, On-Street Parking, and Road Closures during the Festival.


Vehicles Will NOT be permitted to park around the park. There will also be NO Flow of traffic around Lawrence Park with the exception of vendors on Third Street and residents who live in that area.


Also be aware of the 𝐍𝐨 𝐎𝐧-𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 signs in and around the area of the festival grounds. Vehicles found to be in violation will be towed and cited.


Federal Avenue under the bridge between Greenwood Street and Brashear Ave. will be closed for traffic. Please use alternate routes to navigate around the festival area.


On Sunday at 3:00 p.m. the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival parade will begin. No one will be allowed to park on the street anywhere along the parade route which runs up Second Street to Everett Street to Sixth Street where it will end at Greenwood Street. Anyone parking along the parade route prior to this time will have their vehicles towed.


Sunday night at 9:00pm, Fireworks will blast into the sky over the Berwick Bay. Tune into KQKI 95.3FM for synchronized music. The old bridge will 𝐍𝐨𝐭 be available for viewing due to the construction work being done on the old bridge.


Chief Chad M. Adams and the Morgan City Police Department want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe Labor Day Weekend at the 90th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival.


Officers will be positioned throughout the festival grounds assuring the safety of everyone enjoying the festivities. Remember if you 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. You may make the difference. Happy Labor Day Weekend Everyone.
