🚔 SLIDELL MAN STOPPED BEFORE A LARGE AMOUNT OF COCAINE COULD REACH MORGAN CITY STREETS 🚔
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, working in conjunction with investigators from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, made several significant arrests following a narcotics investigation in the Morgan City area.
The investigation began after Morgan City Police Department narcotics investigators identified Scott Moran, 57, of Birdie Drive in Slidell, Louisiana, as a suspected cocaine trafficker residing in the Morgan City area. Throughout the investigation, investigators developed information indicating Moran was actively involved in the distribution of cocaine.
Investigators subsequently observed Moran traveling into Morgan City and conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. During the stop, Morgan City Police Department K-9 Millow was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Millow alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, providing investigators with probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search of Moran's vehicle, investigators recovered approximately 9 ounces of suspected powder cocaine, along with a 9mm handgun located in close proximity to the narcotics.
Following the traffic stop, investigators obtained a search warrant for Moran's temporary residence in the Morgan City area. Upon execution of the search warrant, investigators recovered an additional approximately 1.6 ounces of suspected powder cocaine, along with digital scales, packaging materials commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, and other items of evidentiary value.
In total, investigators seized approximately 301 grams (10.6 ounces) of suspected powder cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $30,100. By removing this quantity of cocaine from circulation, investigators prevented a substantial amount of illegal narcotics from reaching the streets of Morgan City.
Information developed during the investigation led to a related investigation conducted by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, resulting in additional enforcement actions. Any information regarding that continuing investigation will be released by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.
Scott Moran, 57, of Birdie Drive, Slidell, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail on the following charges:
• Following Too Closely
• Failure to Use a Turn Signal
• Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
