Chief Chad M Adams
Chad M. Adams has been serving the Morgan City Police Department since 1996. He has served the department in many different capacities such as Corrections, Patrol, K-9 Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant of Corrections, Investigations, Narcotics, and Captain. He was appointed as Chief of Police in October of 2022. He will assume the responsibilities of Chief of Police, which oversees the operations of the Morgan City Police Department.

The Morgan City Police Department provides police services to the City of Morgan City, Louisiana. The Morgan City Police Department is also an agency that is governed by Civil Service requirements. To aquire employment you are required to take the civil service test that are periodically scheduled for each classification. Applications can be picked up to the Morgan City Police Department front office or online at the Office of State Examiner at ose.louisiana.gov. For Police Officer, that testing procedure is maintained by the Louisiana Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service. Online testing is done at www.ose.louisiana.gov. Once completed return all applications to the Morgan City Police Department. Judy Kraemer
Judy L. Kraemer has been serving the Morgan City Police Department since September of 2021. Secretary Kraemer graduated from Nicholls State University in 1988 with a Bachelors of Arts in English Education. She serves in her current position as Secretary to the Chief of Police. Her duties include performing highly responsible and confidential secretarial duties for the Chief of Police and performing various administrative tasks in the management of the Chief's office. Secretary Kraemer is also responsible for preparing and processing communications from the Chief of Police to departmental employees, as well as individuals and entities outside the department.

Reserve Officers

 

Police Reserve Unit

Morgan City Police Department

     The Morgan City Police Department Reserve Officer Unit has been a very integral part of the Morgan City Police Department for many years.  The unit is composed of citizens who volunteer their time and own funds to help make the community a safer place.  The officers range in age, experience, training and years.  Some have been with the unit for as long as three decades.  The unit receives periodic training and certifications and faces the same dangers as a full time officer with one exception, they do it all on a voluntary basis.

Records

The Morgan City Police Department includes an administrative records division that maintains all files and statistics within the department.  Records Clerk Brittany Johnson  has served the department in many capacities and has been serving the records division since 2021.  Records Clerk Judy Kraemer has served as a Records Clerk since 2021. Clerk Brittany Johnson has previously served in corrections with the Morgan City Police Department.

Clerk Johnson and Kraemer maintain the records system, coordinate the exchange of reports with the appropriate agency, and assist any member of the public in various capacities.  The Morgan City Police Department Records Division is available to the public daily during the week between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.

How do I obtain a copy of a report?

The Morgan City Police Department's Records Section serves as the memory of the department.  Reports can be obtained by contacting the records clerk of the department at 985-380-4605, or by going to the front reception desk located within the administrative building and requesting a copy of the report needed.  There is a $5.00 fee per report. No cash is accepted and payment shall be in the form of a money order.
