MCPD Arrest Report 10/26/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 41 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 10/25/2017:

Kerry Lucas 10262017

Kerry Lucas, 56 years of age, address: Aucoin St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 10/25/2017 @ 4:18 p.m.

Charges: Possession of SCH II CDS W/I/T/D (Vyvanse)
                 Warrant: Criminal Trespassing

Patrol officers responded to the area of Front St. in regards to a suspicious subject. According to reports, officers arrived and Kerry Lucas was identified. During the investigation, it was learned that Lucas was in the area attempting to sell Vyvanse. Lucas was found to be in possession of suspected  Vyvanse to which he allegedly admitted to attempting to sell. It was also found that Lucas held an active arrest warrant held by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Lucas was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Sherry Whittington 10262017

Sherry R. Whittington, 55 years of age, address: Brashear Ave. Morgan City, La., arrested on 10/25/2017 @ 6:56 p.m.

Charges: Theft under $1,000
                 Disturbing the Peace

Patrol officers responded to a local business in the area of Seventh St. in regards to a theft. According to reports, officers arrived and Sherry R. Whittington was identified as a subject involved. The victim had purchased items valued at $38.20 at one local business. The victim continued shopping at another business and placed the bag with the clerk. Allegedly Whittington, who was another patron in the business, obtained possession of the bag and left the business. Reports indicate that Whittington began to yell profanities at another local business in the area. Whittington was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Edward Briggs, 28 years of age, address: East Kruger St. West Wego, La., arrested on 10/25/2017 @ 8:30 p.m.

Charges: Possession of Marijuana
                 Improper Lighting
                 Driving under Suspension

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Sixth St. with improper lighting. A stop was initiated and Edward Briggs was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Briggs’ Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. Briggs was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Briggs was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Wayne Clark, 45 years of age, address: Lenny’s Lane Amelia, La., arrested on 10/25/2017 @ 10:01 p.m.

Charges: Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
                 Open Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner in the area of Railroad Ave. According to reports, the vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving around other vehicles forcing them to the shoulder of the roadway. A stop was initiated and Wayne Clark was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Clark was found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage within the vehicle. Clark was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Toby Gros 10262017

Toby K. Gros, 19 years of age, address: Hwy 40 Napoleonville, La., arrested on 10/26/2017 @ 1:26 p.m.

Charges: Possession of SCH II CDS (Amphetamine/Detroamphetamine)
                 Possession of SCH II CDS (Focalin XR)
                 Possession of SCH IV CDS (Alprazolam)
                 Possession of Marijuana
                 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                 Improper Lighting
                 Registration Required

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of LA 182 with improper lighting. A stop was initiated and Toby K. Gros was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Gros was found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana, Amphetamine/Detroamphetamine, Focalin XR, Alprazolam, and Drug Paraphernalia. Gros was unable to provide officers with a valid prescription for the medication that was located. It was also found during the investigation that the registration on the vehicle Gros was operating had been canceled. Gros was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
