MCPD Arrest Report 03/20/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 47 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 03/19/2018:

Kaveshia Johnson 03192018
Kaveshia O. Johnson, 20 years of age, address: Vieux Orleans Lafayette, La., arrested on 03/19/2018 @ 8:55 a.m.

Charges: Possession of Marijuana
                 Obstruction of Justice
                 No Driver’s License

Patrol officers encountered a vehicle in the area of Seventh St. acting in a suspicious manner. A stop was initiated and Kaveshia O. Johnson was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Johnson was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. She was also observed by officers ingesting marijuana to avoid its detection. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Timothy Collier, 18 years of age, address: Apple St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 03/19/2018 @ 10:57 a.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 02/06/2018

Timothy Collier was located and arrested at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Collier was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Kurt Stephens 03192018

Kurt T. Stephens, 65 years of age, address: Sixth St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 03/19/2018 @ 8:09 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Possession of SCH II CDS (Methamphetamine)
                 Warrant: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                 Warrant: Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)

Kurt T. Stephens was located and arrested in the area of Federal Ave. on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on October 5, 2017, when they responded to the area of Bush St. in regards to a suspicious subject. Officers arrived and Kurt T. Stephens was identified. Stephens was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia. The area where the incident had taken place is within a Drug-Free Zone. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Stephens’ arrest. Stephens was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

David Crain, 20 years of age, address: Mary Ann St. Pierre Part, La., arrested on 03/20/2018 @ 12:19 a.m.

Charges: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Patrol officers responded to a local motel in the area of LA 182 in regards to a suspicious subject. Officers arrived and David Crain was identified. Crain was found to be in an intoxicated state. Crain was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
