MCPD Arrest Report 04/03/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 59 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 04/02/2018:
Robert W. Jones, 26 years of age, address: Oakdale St. Franklin, La., arrested on 04/02/2018 @ 10:24 a.m.
Charge: Possession of Marijuana
Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)
Obstruction of Public Passages
Driving under Suspension
Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle in the middle of Mallard St. blocking the road. A stop was initiated and Robert W. Jones was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Jones was found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana. Jones’ Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. The area where this incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Jones was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Chantal T. Burke, 24 years of age, address: Tiffany St. Patterson, La., arrested on 04/02/2018 @ 1:36 p.m.
Charges: Possession of SCH II CDS (Methamphetamine)
Possession of SCH II CDS (Adderall)
Battery on a Police Officer
Obstruction of Justice
Resisting an Officer
Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of Juveniles
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Improper Lighting
Warrant: F.T.A. for Trial on 02/28/2018
Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Federal Ave. with improper lighting. A stop was initiated when Chantal T. Burke was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Burke was found to hold an active arrest warrant through the 16th Judicial Court. The St. Mary Parish K-9 Division assisted in the investigation when K-9 Buddy showed a positive alert to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Burke was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine, Adderall and Drug Paraphernalia. Suspected Marijuana was located in a beverage in the vehicle which Burke was able to kick over striking an officer in the process destroying the evidence. Burke was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Patrol officers responded to a local business in the area of LA 182 in regards to a shoplifter. Officers arrived when Andronique M. Lemons was identified. Allegedly Lemons took items belonging to the merchant valued at $10.48 without paying for them. Lemons resisted officers while being taken into custody. Lemons was also found to hold an active arrest warrant through the 16th Judicial Court. Lemons was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
