MCPD Arrest Report 10/31/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 35 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 10/30/2018:

Jacob Alcina 10302018

Jacob T. Alcina, 30 years of age, Address-Martin Luther King St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 9:52 am.

Charge: Warrant-Theft of a Motor Vehicle
               Warrant-Simple Burglary

   Jacob Alcina was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an incident on October 10th that alleges Alcina had burglarized a local business on Chenault St. and stole one of the company vehicles. Alcina was booked and incarcerated.

Natasha D. Bergeron, 32 years of age, Address-Francis St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 9:38 am.

Charge: Careless Operation
               Switched License Plate
               No Insurance
               Driving Under Suspension
               Proper Equipment Required on Vehicles

Herman Butler 10302018

Herman J. Butler, 30 years of age, Address-Martin Luther King St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 9:38 am.

Charge: Warrant-Battery of a Dating Partner-Strangulation

   Officers responded to the intersection of LA Hwy 70 and Victor II Blvd. in regards to a vehicle crash. Officers arrived and made contact with one of the drivers, Natasha Bergeron. Reports indicate that Bergeron had rear-ended another vehicle. No injuries were sustained in the crash. Bergeron was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Bergeron’s driver’s license was suspended. Also, there was no insurance on the vehicle and the license plate was registered to another vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle, Herman Butler was found to have an active warrant with the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an incident in August that alleged Butler committed a battery on an individual he was dating. Both Bergeron and Butler were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Garrett Via, 33 years of age, Address-Happy Acres Lane Baldwin, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 12:06 am.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana

   Officers responded to a local business on LA Hwy 70 in regards to an individual smoking an illegal narcotic inside the business. Officers arrived and were given a description of the individual. The individual was located and identified as Garrett Via. Suspected marijuana was located in Via’s possession. Via was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jeffery Kopszywa, 40 years of age, Address-Angela St. Pierre Part, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 3:20 pm.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Probation Fees
               Warrant-Probation Violation

   Jeffery Kopszywa was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Kopszywa was booked and incarcerated.

Jamie L. Lantier, 22 years of age, Address-Stephensville Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 @ 8:23 pm.

Charge: Battery of a Dating Partner

   Officers responded to a residence on Hickory St. in regards to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim who stated that she and Jamie Lantier had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical. Officers did observe marks on the victim consistent with her statements. Officers located Lantier inside the home and placed him under arrest. Lantier was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Christine A. Hughes, 34 years of age, Address-Hamm St. Franklin, La. was arrested 10/30/2018 @ 4:30 pm.

Charge: Simple Battery

Vanessa L. Diggs, 54 years of age, Address-Eighth St. Franklin, La. was arrested on 10/30/2018 4:30 pm.

Charge: Simple Battery

  Christine Hughes and Vanessa Diggs are inmates housed at the Morgan City Jail Facility. Hughes and Diggs were involved in a disturbance and committed a battery on each other. Both were charged and continue to be incarcerated.
