MCPD Arrest Report 01/11/2019
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 52 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 01/10/2019:
Brad J. Derouen, 28 years of age, Address-South Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 10:40 am.
Charge: Warrant-Probation Violation

Brad Derouen was transported from the Lafayette Parish Detention Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Derouen was booked and incarcerated.
Cody P. Pearce, 30 years of age, Address-Rose St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 10:40 am.
Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Fines (3cts)
Cody Pearce was transported from the Lafayette Parish Detention Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Pearce was booked and incarcerated.
.Courtlan M. Carter, 29 years of age, Address-Birch St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 1:07 pm.
Charge: Warrant-Aggravated Battery
Courtlan Carter was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the department. The warrant stems from an incident in December 2018 which alleged Carter had thrown an object that hit another individual. Carter was booked and incarcerated.
John E. Dwyer, 61 years of age, Address-LA Hwy 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 4:11 pm.
Charge: Disturbing the Peace –Offensive Language
Officers responded to a business on Marguerite St. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and employees of the business identified John Dwyer as the individual causing the disturbance. According to witnesses, Dwyer was yelling and using profanities. Officers made contact with Dwyer and placed him under arrest. Dwyer was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Elaina N. Ashmore, 19 years of age, Address-New Iberia, La was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 7:20 pm.

Elaina Ashmore was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the 6th Ward City Court and the 16th Judicial District Court. Ashmore was booked and incarcerated.
Christian A. Brown, 40 years of age, Address-Maple St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/10/2019 @ 7:35 pm.
Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Probation Fees
Christian Brown was located at his residence on Maple St. and placed under arrest for an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Brown was booked and incarcerated.
Charge: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
An officer in the area of Federal Ave. observed a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a closed business. The officer approached the vehicle and observed an individual in the driver’s seat asleep. The individual was awaken and identified as Kenneth Benoit. Reports indicate that while talking to Benoit, the officer observed a firearm on the passenger seat. A computer check on Benoit revealed that he had prior felony convictions that prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Benoit was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
