MCPD Arrest report for 05/23/2019
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 43 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 05/22/2019:
Benn Kunu, 66 years of age, Bowman St. Morgan City,La was arrested on 05/22/2019 @ 9:34 am
Charges: Theft(under 1000.00)
Officers were called to a local retail store where they were told by store employees that Kunu was observed placing items in his pockets and attempting to leave the store. Kunu was stopped by employees, at which time he returned into the store and removed the items from his pockets and placed them back of the shelf. Officers arrived and learned that Kunu had taken items valued at $17.94. Kunu was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
Cortez Francois,23 years of age, Garber St. Morgan City,La was arrested on 05/22/2019 @ 1:56 pm
Charges: Simple Burglary
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Officer were called to a Roderick St. address due to a vehicle burglary. Before officers could arrive on scene they learned that the suspect was being chased on foot by the victim. Officers arrived into the area and located the suspect in the area. The suspect was detained and identified as Cortez Francois. Officers learned that when the victim confronted the suspect he returned some of the victim's property but would not return the rest. Cortez then attempted to flee the area at which time the victim gave chase and alerted officers to Cortez's location. Cortez was caught and placed under arrest, he was also found to have suspected drug paraphernalia. Cortez was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.

Brandy K. Wiggins, 43 years of age, Aristle Rd, Morgan City,La was arrested on 05/22/19 @ 4:00 pm

Harley Thibodeaux, 22 years of age, Hwy 317, Franklin, La was arrested on 05/22/19@ 4:00 pm

All three subjects are incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department Jail. Corrections officers learned that they had damaged some property in the jail that was recently installed. Tolento, Wiggins, and Thibodeaux were additionally charged with damage to property.
Jerroid Garrison, 26, years of age, Federal Ave. Morgan City,La was arrested on 05/22/20 @ 9:42 pm

Resisting an officer by giving False information
Warrant-Possession of Marijuana 1st offense
An officer patrolling the area of Mallard St was flagged down by a subject who told officers that a burglary had taken place. According to the witness they had returned home and noticed a male subject attempting to gain entry in their apartment. The suspect fled when the victim approached the apartment. Officers were able to locate a person fitting the description of the suspect in the area. When they spoke with him he gave the name of a subject that the officers knew. Officers were able to locate an ID on the suspect and learned that he was, in fact, Jerroid Garrison. Garrison was placed under arrest for attempted burglary and resisting an officer. Officers also learned that Garrison was wanted by MCPD for possession of Marijuana. Garrison was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
