MCPD Arrest Report 2/21/2020
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 48 calls of service. The following person(s) were arrested as the result beginning on 2/20/2020:
James Salone Austin Jr., 20 years of age, Address- East Main St., Houma, La., was arrested 2/20/2020 at 11:52 A.M.
Warrant: Failure to Appear (3 Counts)
James S. Austin Jr. was located in the Ashland Correctional Facility in Terrebonne Parish on an outstanding warrant for City Court of Morgan City. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Joshua Jerome Navy, 32 years of age, Address-Franklin, La., was arrested on 2/20/2020 at 8:55 P.M.
Warrant: Failure to Appear
Terry Paul Sams, 35 years of age, Address-Wren St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/20/2020 at 8:55 P.M.
Warrant: Failure to Appear
An officer on patrol observed a traffic violation in the area of Brashear Ave. and Federal Ave. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as Joshua J Navy along with a passenger, Terry P. Sams. A warrant check revealed both Navy and Sams had outstanding warrants. The City Court of Morgan City held an active warrant for Navy, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office held an active warrant for Sams. Both Navy and Sams were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
David Paul Eckols, 50 years of age, Address-Joey St. Patterson, La., was arrested on 2/20/2020 at 9:46 P.M.
Charge: Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense)
Officers were called to the area of Highway 182 and Everett St. for a vehicle crash. Upon Officers arrival, they located a vehicle that had left the road away, striking a tree. The driver of the vehicle was identified as David Paul Eckols. During the investigation, the officer suspected driver impairment. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test was given, and Eckols performed poorly on the test. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the Morgan City Police department, he was given an intoxilyzer test and gave a breath sample of 0.218g%. He was booked and incarcerated.
Brett Sanders, 29 years of age, Address-Lagonda Road, Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/21/2020 at 12:32 A.M.
Charge: Criminal Trespass
Criminal Damage to Property
Officers were called to a Park Road residence for a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were informed Brett Sanders had entered onto the property without permission. While Sanders was on the property, he damaged the front door. He was located on scene and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
