Arrest Report 06/26/2014

The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 06/25/2014:

 

 

Michael L. Gaines, 56 years of age, Address-Shannon St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/25/2014 @ 2:59pm

Charge: Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated-2nd Offense; Careless Operation with an Accident; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; No Motor Vehicle Insurance; Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle

Officers responded to a vehicle crash on U.S. Highwya 90 near Martin Luther King Jr. exit and located a vehicle which had collided with the barrier.  The driver, Michael Gaines was located and found to be in an impaired condition.  Gaines refused a field sobriety test.  Gaines was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license, no insurance and found to be in possession of several open containers of alcoholic beverage in his vehicle. He was also found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics.  Gaines was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he refused the intoxilyzer 5000 test.  He was booked and incarcerated.  The accident resulted in no injuries.

 

 

Clifton Brown, 30 years of age, Address-Franklin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/25/2014 @ 5:33pm

Charge: Possession of Marijuana

     A Detective with the Narcotics Division of the Morgan City Police Department  along with an agen with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Highway 182 in Morgan City and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle was detained and a passener identified as Clifton Brown.  During the encounter, a celophane bag which contained suspected marijuana was observed in the vehicle.  It was seized by investigators.  The passenger, Clifton Brown admitted to officers of the possession of the controlled substance.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
