Morgan City Police Arrest Report 02/06/2015

   The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 02/05/2015:




Orlando D. Ramkhalawan, 19 years of age, Address-Cypress St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/05/2015 @ 4:09pm

Charge: Speeding 57mph/45mph zone; Driving Under Suspension

     A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle on La. Hwy 182 and determined that the vehicles speed was 57mph in a 45mph zone.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Orlando Ramkhalawan who was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  Ramkhalawan was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and released after posting a cash bond. 




Melanie A. Ruffin, 44 years of age, Address-Canary St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/05/2015 @ 4:55pm


Charge: Warrant: Simple Battery

     Melanie Ruffin was located near the intersection of Mount St. and Railroad Ave. and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant dated January 2015 which she is accused of striking another person.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and later released after posting a cash bond. 





Brad J. Derouen, 24 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/05/2015 @ 5:21pm


Charge: Speeding 51mph/45mph zone; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle traveling on Highway 182 and determined the vehicle to be traveling in excess of the posted speed limit even after the officer observed the driver of the vehicle attempt to slow down upon seeing the police unit.  The vehicle was stopped and according to the the report, the driver,  Brad Derouen was oberved attempting to conceal an item in the seat of the vehicle.  The driver, Derouen was identified and appeared extremely nervous.  A narcotics K-9 was deployed and indicated the presence of odor of illegal substance in the vehicle.  The driver admitted to officers that he possessed a "Pipe" inside the vehicle.  The officer recovered a pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.  The subject, Brad Derouen was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and later released after posting a cash bond.
