MCPD Arrest Report 08/31/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 08/28/2015:  

Shane O. Suire, 19 years of age, Address-Susan Court Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/28/2015 @ 10:00 pm.


Charge:  Warrant- Simple Burglary
                Warrant- Forgery
                Warrant- Possession of Stolen Things

     Shane Suire was transported from the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville, La. to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the Morgan City Police Department.  The warrant stems from a complaint on August 26, 2015, which alleges that Suire burlarized a vehicle on Lesley Dr.  One of the items stolen from the vehicle was a check that Suire is alleged to have forged in the amount of $1200.00. Suire was booked and incarcerated.

Laclifford Powell, 33 years of age, Address-LA Hwy 182 West Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 12:25 am. 


Charge:  Disturbing the Peace
                Simple Battery
                Remaining After Being Forbidden
     Officers were dispatched to a local bar on LA Hwy 182 in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told that Laclifford Powell was causing a disturbance in the bar and asked to leave several times, but refused.  They were also told that Powell had struck one of the employees. Officers spoke to the victim and observed marks on his facial area.  Officers made contact with Powell, who was yelling and using profanities   He was asked to calm down by officers, but did not comply.  Powell was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarcation.

Lawerence P. Carbins, 33 years of age, Address- Leona St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 3:25 am. 


Charge: Warrant- Home Invasion
               Warrant- Simple Battery

     Lawerence Carbins was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an incident in November of 2014, which alleges that Carbins entered a residence on Onstead St. and commited a battery on an individual.  Carbins was booked and incarcerated. No bond has been set, at this time.

Chyral C. Whitehead, 35 years of age, Address-Perro St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 3:25 am.


Charge:  Warrant- Probation Violation

    Chyral Whitehead was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant she held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Whitehead was booked and incarcerated.

Mario A. Medina, 52 years of age, Address- Barrow St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 7:59 pm.


Charge: No Driver's License
               Reckless Operation

    A patrol officer in the area of Ditch and Railroad Ave observed a vehicle driving faster than the speed posted. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, Mario Medina was asked to produce a valid driver's license.  A computer check revealed that Medina did not have a driver's license. Medina was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Benjamin T. Weaver, 39 years of age, Address- Second St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 8:27 pm.


Charge:  Appearing in Public Intoxicated

     Officers were dispatched to a local business on LA Hwy 182 in regards to an intoxicated individual inside the business. When officers arrived, they located the individual outside of the business lying on the ground. The individual was identified as Benjamin Weaver. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Weaver was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Fredrick Guzzetta, 18 years of age, Address- Utah St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 08/29/2015 @ 10:01 pm. 


Charge:  Warrant- Failure to Appear 

    Fredrick Guzzetta was located in the area of Front St. A local warrants check was done Guzzetta and it was determined that he held an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court. Guzzetta was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Michael Cairns, 33 years of age, Address- Hwy 662 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/30/2015 @ 12:34 am. 


Charge:  Appearing in Public Intoxicated

    Officers were dispatched to the area of Third and Everett St. in regards to an intoxicated individual in the area. Officers arrived and observed a subject laying on the ground. The subject was identified as Michael Cairns.  Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beveage emitting from Cairns' breath.  Once Cains was on his feet, he could not maintain his balance. Officers placed Cairns under arrest and transported him to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Fred Kenner, 29 years of age, Address- Grace St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/30/2015 @ 8:19 pm.

Charge:  Possession Sch I Marijuana
                Resisting an Officer
                Battery on an Officer
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia




Stanley Ruffin, 48 years of age, Address- Second St. Morgan City, La was arrested on 08/30/2015 @ 8:19


Charge:  Driving Under Suspension
                Careless Operation
                Failure to Signal
   A officer in the area of Sixth and Freret St. observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal. A traffic stop was conducted. Officers also observed the vehicle almost crash into someone riding a bicycle. As the vehicle pulled over, the passenger in the vehicle, Fred Kenner began to flee on foot. Kenner was eventually located and while placing him under arrest, he struck one of the officers. Officers located suspected marijuana on Kenner and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. The driver of the vehicle, Stanley Ruffin was asked to produce a valid driver's license. It was determined that Ruffin's driver's license was under suspension.  Ruffin was placed under arrest. Both Ruffin and Kenner were transported to the Morgan City for bookin and incarceration.

Eduardo Machado, 38 years of age, Address- Willard St. Morgan City, La was arrested on 08/30/2015@ 23:48  pm.


Charge:  Simple Battery
                Aggravated Assault
                Resisting an Officer by Giving False Information
                Warrant- Failure to Appear (2cts)

     Officers were dispatched to a residence on Willard St. in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told that Eduardo Machado had struck an indiviual and threaten that person with a knife. Officers located Machado, who at first gave officers a false name, stated that he and the victim had gotten into a verbal altercation. A warrants check was done on Machado and it was determined that he held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Machado was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Kenny Rodriguez, 23 years of age, Address- Egle St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/30/2015 @ 23:32 pm.


Charge:  Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated. 

  Officers were dispatched to a local bar on LA Hwy 182 in regards to a distrubance.  When officers arrived, they were told that a subject was yelling and preventing the customers from leaving. Officers located Kenny Rodriguez and he appeared intoxicated. Officers placed Rodriguez under arrest and transported him to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
