MCPD Arrest Report 10/01/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 09/30/2015.


Melvin C. Sylvester, 36 years of age, Address: James Street, Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/30/2015 @ 8:48 A.M.


Charge: Warrant for Probation Violation

     Melvin C. Sylvester was transported from Hunts Correctional Facility to the Morgan City Police Deptartment in regards to a warrant for Sylvester held by the 6th Ward City Court. Sylvester was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Tyrone Singleton, 29 years of age, Address: Gibson, La. was arrested on 09/30/2015 @ 10:02 P.M. 


Charges: Driving with a Suspended Drivers License
                 Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle with an Accident
                 Warrant - Failure to Appear to Pay Fine (Loud Music)
                 Warrant - Failure to Appear to Pay Fine (Open Container)
     The Morgan City Police Dept. received information of a vehicle traveling west on Hwy. 90 at a high rate of speed. Officer responded to the area and located a vehicle invovled in a crash in the area and was determind to be the vehicle of the initial complaint traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Tyrone Singleton. A computer check revealed that Singleton had a suspended drivers license and that the 6th Ward City Court held arrest warrants on Singleton. Singleton was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Dept. where he was booked and incarcerated.
