MCPD Arrest Report 01/12/2016
The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 01/11/2016.
Charles W Cantrell, 45 years of age, Address: Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 01/11/2016 @ 4:00 P.M.
Charges: Warrant - Failure to Appear for No Inspection Sticker
Warrant - Failure to Appear for Expired License Plate
Charles W Cantrell was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to active arrest warrants Morgan City Police held on Cantrell. Cantrell was booked on the warrants and incarcerated.
Raul M Mavarez - Ortiz, 53 years of age, Address: Bowman St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/11/2016 @ 6:24 P.M.
Charge: Simple Burglary
An officer responded to a residence on Fourth Street in regard to a theft. The victim / complainant told the officer that there was a noise heard at the front of the residence. The complainant looked outside and observed a subject inside the complainants vehicle The complainant attempted to stop the subject who left the area on a bicycle but was unable to do so. The officer was told that a battery charger was taken from the vehicle. It was reported by witnesses of a subject attempting to sell a battery charger near a local business on Federal Avenue. A description of the subject was provided when officers located Raul M Navarez - Ortiz near the area of Federal Ave. and Egle Street. Ortiz was found to be in possession of a battery charger which was possitively identified by the complaint as belonging to the complainant. Statements were obtained from witnesses along with the complainant which implicated Oriz having taken the battery charger and attempting to sell it. Ortiz was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
