MCPD Arrest Report 01/20/2016

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 01/19/2016.


Kerry A Martin, 19 years of age, Address: Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/19/2016 @ 3:00 P.M.


Charge:  Probation Violation (Continued Use of CDS Marijuana)



   Kerry A Martin was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the Morgan City Court. Martin was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Passion M Harris, 19 years of age. Address: Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/19/2016 @ 3:45 P.M. 


Charge:  Warrant - Probation Violation
                Warrant - Failure to Appear to Pay Probation Fee

     Passion M Harris was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court in regard to active arrest warrants held for Harris by the Morgan City Court. Harris was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

James Naverre, 19 years of age, Address: Apple St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/19/2016 @ 4:00 P.M. 


Charge:  Probation Violation

     James Naverre was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court in regard to an active arrest warrant for Naverre held by the Morgan City Court. Naverre was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.

Travis S Ruffin Jr., 17 years of age, Address: Bernice St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/19/2016 @ 6:57 P.M. 


Charge:  Simple Battery

     An officer responded to the area of Cottonwood Street and Sandra Street in regard to a complaint of a battery. The officer arrived and spoke with the victim and witness of the incident. The officer was told that the victim and witness were traveling on Cottonwood Street when Travis S Ruffin Jr. pulled in front of them and stopped his vehicle. Travis then got out of his vehicle, walked over to the victim's vehicle and began punching the victim several times in the face through an open window. The officer then spoke with Ruffin Jr. who according to reports admitted that he did strike the victim through the window. Ruffin Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. The victim was transported to a local medical facility to be treated for minor inuries sustained during the incident.

Wilson LaChappel, 31 years of age, Address: Apple St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/19/2016 @ 9:45 P.M.


Charges:  Improper Lighting
                  Driving Under Suspension
                  Warrant - Speeding

     An officer was patrolling the area of Front Street near Egle Street when a vehicle was observed traveling with improper tail lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Wilson LaChappel. A drivers license and warrants check was conducted which revealed that LaChappel had a suspended drivers license and that the Morgan City Police Department held an active arrest warrant for LaChappel. LaChappel was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
