MCPD Arrest Report 02/03/2016

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 02/02/2016.


Tevin J Kemp, 24 years of age, Address: Centerville, La. was arrested on 02/02/2016 @ 11:08am.


Charge:  Possession of Marijuana

     A parolling officer observed a vehicle making an improper turn from Brashear Ave. 
onto the U.S. 90 bridge. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Tevin J Kemp. Kemp was issued a citation for the traffic offense and while doing to Kemp's behavior aroused officers suspicions thay he may be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located suspected marijuana. Kemp was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Zachary B Myers, 20 years of age, Address: Front St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/02/2016 @ 12:13pm.

Charges:  Possession With the Intent to Distribute Marijuana
                  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                  Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
                  Distribution of Marijuana
                  Violation of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Law

     Officers responded to an address on Front Street in regard to information of illegal drug activity at the residence. Contact was made with Zachary B Myers and officers notified Myers of the information recieved. Myers admitted being involved in illegal drug activity and allowed officers to search the residence. Officers located suspected marijuana packaged in a way which appeared to be intended for sale. Officers also located a firearm along with suspected drug paraphernalia. Evidence was obtained of Myers conducting a drug transaction involving suspected mairjuana that same evening. The location of the incident was within the area of a local school in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Myers was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Lucius Romero, 40 years of age, Address: North Third St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/02/2016 @ 2:41pm.

Charge:  2 Counts of Contempt of Court

Lucius Romero was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court for two counts of contempt of court. Romero was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated. 

Montoya Hernandez, 24 years of age, Address: Fourth St. Morgan City , La. was arrested on 02/02/2016 @ 9:07pm.

Charge:  Driving While Intoxicated        
                No Drivers License
                Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
                No Child Restraint
                Child Endangerment 

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Ditch Ave. swerving and strike the curb of the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Montoya Hernandez. A drivers license check revealed that Hernandez did not have a drivers license.  A small child less than one year of age was observed inside the vehicle and was not in a child restraint device. During the investigation Hernandez was suspected to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Hernandez was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he refused further intoxilyzer testing. Hernandez was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Evan Simpson, 24 years of age, Address: Ellijay, Ga. was arrested on 02/03/2016 @ 12:22am.

Charge:  Felony Criminal Damage to Property 

     Officers responded to a local hotel in regard to a complaint of a suspicious subject and damage to one of the rooms. Contact was made with the managment who told officers that a subject came to the front desk bleeding from the hands and appeared to be intoxicated. The subejct was followed to one of the rooms that is currently closed for maintenance and left unlocked. The management notified police but the subject later identified as Evan Simpson left prior to officers arrival. Officers located blood inside the room along with several items that had been damaged with an estimated value of over $750.00. A description of Simpson was provided when he was located in the area moments later. Simpson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
