The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 02/16/2016.
Herman J Jones, 50 years of age, Address: Arizona St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/16/2016 @ 3:23pm.

Charge:  Warrant - Failure to Appear for Overlimit Possession of Red Drum

     Herman J Jones was located by officers at a residence on Fifth Street and arrested on an active arrest warrant held by the 32nd Judicial District Court. Jones was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated. 
Richard Fortner, 58 years of age, Address: David Dr. Patterson, La. was arrested on 02/16/2016 @ 5:45pm.

Charges:  Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle 
                  Driving While Intoxicated

     An officer responded to the intersection of Brashear Ave. @ Sixth Street in regard to a traffic accident involving two vehicles. Richard Fortner was identified to be the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident. During the investigation, it was determined that Fortner had operated the vehicle in a reckless manner which caused the accident. Fortner was also believed to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Fortner was detained and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing where Fortner submitted to the intoxilyzer 5000 yielding a blood alcohol concentration of .159 grams percent. Fornter was placed under arrest and booked into the Morgan City Jail. 
Sherkera M Sylvester, 35 years of age, Address: Short St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/16/2016 @ 6:00pm. 

Charge:  Battery on a Correctional Officer

     Sherkera M Sylvester, while incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail was alledged to have committed a battery on a correctional officer. Sylvester was rebooked on additional charges and remains incarcerated.
