The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 03/04/2016.

Dustin M Lovell, 19 years of age, Address: Sandy Ln. Franklin, La. was arrested on 03/04/2016 @ 1:30pm.

Charge:  
Warrant - Violation of a Protective Order

     Dustin M Lovell turned himself in at the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by Morgan City Police. Lovell was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail. 

Antoinette O Davis, 37 years of age, Address: Roderick St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/04/2016 @ 5:25pm. 

Charges:  Warrant - Illegal Possession of Stolen Things
                  Warrant - Theft
                  Warrant - Forgery

     Antoinette O Davis was located by officers in the area of Hwy 182 near Everett Street where she was arrested in regard to active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department. Davis was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Jalon Jenkins, 23 years of age, Address: Yellow Bayou Rd. Centerville, La. was arrested on 03/05/2016 @ 12:00am.

Charge:  Warrant - Failure to Appear to Pay Probation Fee

     Jalon Jenkins was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department where he was arrested on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Jenkins was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Samuel T Gautreaux, 23 years of age, Address: Ville Platte, La. was arrested on 03/05/2016 @ 2:25am. 

Charge:  Improper Lane Usage

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on Hwy 182 swerving out of its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Samuel T Gautreaux. During the stop Gautreaux exhibited signs that he had been drinking and that he may be intoxicated. Gautreaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing. Reports indicated that Gautreaux submitted to the intoxilyzer 5000 which yielded a blood alcohol concentration less than the State of Louisiana's designated legal limit. Gautreaux was booked and released on the traffic offense. 

Louis D Topham, 40 years of age, Address: Aucoin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/05/2016 @ 1:30pm. 

Charges:  Possession of Marijuana

     The Morgan City Police Department received a call of a suspicious person in the area of Veterans Blvd. near Hwy 70. The caller further stated that the subject was believed to just have been involved in a drug transaction in the area. A responding officer located Louis D Topham who fit the description of the persons described in the complaint. Reports indicate that a search of Topham's person was conducted when the officer located suspected marijuana. Topham was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Blake Smith, 25 years of age, Address: Tiffany St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 12:00am.

                  Warrant - Lafayette Police Department for Resisting an Officer

Taylor Batiste, 18 years of age, Address: Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 12:00am. 

Charges:  Possession of Cocaine

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle getting onto the U.S. 90 west on ramp from Martin Luther King Blvd. with no vissible license plate. The vehicle was then observed crossing out of its lane of travel several times when the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle refused to stop when the vehicle began running from the officer driving irratically reaching speeds up to 75 mph. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursue as it continued into Patterson. The vehicle turned off U.S. 90 onto Tiffany Street where it turned into a residence where the driver identified as Blake Smith and passenger identified as Taylot Batiste were taken into custody. While handcuffing Smith, officers observed suspected marijuana around Smith's mouth area which officer believed that Smith was attempting to discard or distroy possible evidence. A search of the vehicle was conducted when officers located suspected marjuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.  A drivers license check revealed that Smith had a suspended drivers license and it was also learned that there were active arrest warrants for Smith held by the 16th Judicial Dist. Court and the Lafayette Police Department. A temporary license plate was located in the vehicle which was believed to have alterted information. The vehicle was also found to be without registration and vehicle insurance. Both Smith and Batiste were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Deparment where they were booked and incarcerated.

Rogelio F Fuentez, 30 years of age, Address: Electric Lane, Morgan City, La. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 12:34am.

Charges:  Improper Lane Usage
                  Driving While Intoxicated (2nd Offense) 

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on Victor II Blvd. traveling out of its lane of travel several times. A traffic stop was conducted when the drvier was identified as Rogelio F Fuentez.  Reports indicated that Fuentez exhibited signs that he had been drinking and may be intoxicated. Fuentez was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing. Fuentez submitted to the intoxiyzer 5000 yielding a blood alcohol concentration of .201 grams percent. Fuentez was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 

Nelson A Vargas Jr., 28 years of age, Address: Franklin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 2:25am. 

Charge:  Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Hwy 182 onto the U.S. 90 west bound on ramp. Reports indicated that the vehicle accelerated quickly causing the vehicle to spin out of control. The vehicle was observed continuing to drive across the U.S. 90 Bridge in a reckless manner.  A traffic stop was conducted when the driver was identified as Vargas A Nelson Jr.. Nelson Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Skyla R Crochet, 21 years of age, Address: Palm St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 7:15pm.

Charges:  Possession of Marijuana
                  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                  Improper Tail Lights

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Front Street near Terrebonne Street with improper tail lighting. A traffic stop was conducted when the driver was identified as Skyla R Crochet. Reports indicated that Crochet's behavior aroused officer's suspicions that she may be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of the vehicle was conducted when officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Crochet was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

Victor Vasquez, 35 years of age, Address: 8th St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/06/2016 @ 8:56pm. 

Charges:  Domestic Abuse Battery

     Officers responded to an address on Eighth Street in regard to a call of a domestic distubance. Reports indicated that officers located the three idividuals inside the residence one being Victor Vasquez and two other's who were later determined to be the victim and witness to the incicdent. The officers spoke with the victim who had signs of a battery along with the witness. They were advised that Vasquez and the victim were involved in an argument when Vasquez became angry and was alleged to have committed a battery on the victim. Vasquez was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
