MCPD Arrest Report 04/10/2017
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 72-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 127 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result during the last reporting period beginning on 04/07/2017:
Kenneth J. Alfred, 43 years of age, address: Marie St. Patterson, La, arrested on 04/07/2017 @ 10:56 a.m.
Charges: Driving under Suspension
Stop Sign Violation
Patrol officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Belanger St. A stop was initiated at which time Kenneth J. Alfred was identified as the driver of the vehicle. During the investigation Alfred’s driver’s license was found to be under suspension. Alfred was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Freddy A. Borne, 39 years of age, address: Prairie Rd. Centerville, La, arrested on 04/07/2017 @ 2:45 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Arraignment on 08/16/2016
Freddy A. Borne was located and arrested at the Franklin Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court on the original charge of Theft. Borne was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Gregory Granger Jr., 29 years of age, address: Main St. Patterson, La, arrested on 04/07/2017 @ 11:41 p.m.
Charges: Red Light Violation
Flight from an Officer

Patrol officers observed a motorcycle fail to stop at a red light in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd. Officers attempted to initiate a stop but the driver failed to comply. The subject entered onto US 90 west as officers followed. Officers were able to stop the motorcycle on US 90 in Berwick. The driver was taken into custody and identified as Gregory Granger Jr. Granger was also found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage. Granger was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Jodie Meranta, 48 years of age, address: Clark Rd. Morgan City, La, arrested on 04/08/2017 @ 05:49 a.m.
Charges: Warrant: Disturbing the Peace
Jodie Meranta was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation in December 2016 in which Meranta allegedly came in contact with the victim in the area of First St and began hollering profanities. When speaking with the police the victim indicated that they would wish to pursue charges at which time a warrant was prepared for Meranta’s arrest. Meranta was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Joseph M. Price, 45 years of age, address: Railroad Ave. Morgan City, La, arrested on 04/08/2017 @ 9:25 p.m.
Charges: Resisting an Officer
Officers responded to the area of Front St. in regards to a trespassing complaint. Officers arrived and Joseph M. Price was identified as a suspect. According to reports upon making contact with Price he fled on foot from officers. Price was located in the area a short time later at which time he was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Charles E. Beverly, 24 years of age, address: Willow St. Franklin, La, arrested on 04/09/2017 @ 2:23 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: Contempt of Court
Charles E. Beverly was located and arrested in the area of LA 182 on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Beverly was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charges: Warrant: Unauthorized use of a Movable over $500
Jack M. Rawls was located and arrested in the area of LA 70 on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police in September of 2007 where Rawls had allegedly taken a car that belonged to a local business without permission. Rawls was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated. Charges: Warrant: Unauthorized use of a Movable over $500
