MCPD Arrest Report 08/02/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 50 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 08/01/2017:

John S. Henry, 31 years of age, address: Irish Bend Rd. Franklin, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 8:54 a.m.

Charges: Theft of Utilities

John S. Henry was transported from the Berwick Police Department and arrested on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Henry was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Joni R. Madison 08012017
Joni R. Madison, 37 years of age, address: Pecos St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 9:56 a.m.

Charges: Warrant: Possession of SCH II CDS (Methamphetamine)
                 Warrant: Open Container in a Motor Vehicle
                 Warrant: Required Signals

Joni R. Madison was transported from the Berwick Police Department and arrested on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division on December 12, 2016, when investigators observed a vehicle switching from lane to lane failing to signal. A stop was initiated and Joni R. Madison was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Madison was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Madison’s arrest. Madison was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Raul O. Nevarez
Raul O. Nevarez, 54 years of age, address: Mallard St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 1:10 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Battery of Emergency Room Personnel
                 Warrant: Illegal Possession of Stolen Things

Raul O. Nevarez was located and arrested in the area of Mallard St. on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The first warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on July 24, 2017, when Nevarez allegedly committed a battery on an Emergency Room Nurse. Nevarez was already in the custody of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on other charges, therefore, warrants were prepared for his arrest. The second warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division when Nevarez was arrested on July 30, 2017, by patrol officers. According to reports, Nevarez was found to be in possession of several construction tools. The tools were later reported stolen by the victim out of a residence in the area of Duke St. A warrant was prepared for Nevarez’s arrest. Nevarez was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Lacey M. Menard, 23 years of age, address: Victor II Blvd. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 1:31 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay fine on 05/30/2017 (6 counts)
                 Warrant: Probation Violation

Lacey M. Menard was transported from the St. Landry Parish Detention Center and arrested on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Menard was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Kerry Martin, 20 years of age, address: Garber St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 3:00 p.m.

Charges: Contempt of Court

Kerry Martin was transported from the Morgan City Court after being held in Contempt of Court. Martin was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Troy M. Aucoin, 17 years of age, address: Guidry St. Berwick, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 3:00 p.m.

Charges: Contempt of Court

Troy M. Aucoin was transported from the Morgan City Court after being held in Contempt of Court. Aucoin was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

James W. Minton Jr., 40 years of age, address: Glenwood St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 5:59 p.m.

Charges: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Patrol officers responded to the area of Glenwood St. in regards to a disturbance. According to reports, James W. Minton Jr. was identified as being involved in a verbal altercation. Minton Jr. was found to be in an intoxicated state. Minton Jr. was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Leroy Davis III, 26 years of age, address: Adams St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/01/2017 @ 10:03 p.m.

Blake Smith, 26 years of age, address: Tiffany St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/02/2017 @ 10:03 p.m.

Charges: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

                 Warrant: Illegal Possession of Stolen Things

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle negotiate an improper turn in the area of Victor II Blvd. According to reports, investigators attempted to initiate a stop and the operator of the vehicle failed to comply. The vehicle continued to travel and flee from investigators when it turned into Brownell Homes. The vehicle then began traveling at higher speeds and operate in a reckless manner running stop signs. Two subjects fled from the vehicle on foot at which time investigators gave chase of the subjects. After a short foot chase, the operator of the vehicle was apprehended and identified as Leroy Davis III. The passenger of the vehicle was also apprehended and identified as Blake Smith. Davis’ Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension and it was learned that he held active warrants for his arrest through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Blake Smith was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and it was learned that he held several active warrants for his arrest held by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, 16th Judicial Court, and 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Both Davis III and Smith were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.
