MCPD Arrest Report 08/23/2017
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 41 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 08/22/2017:
Bryson Bias, 26 years of age, address: Orange St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/22/2017 @ 3:51 p.m.
Charges: Driving while Intoxicated-Child Endangerment Law
Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Driving under Suspension
No Insurance
No Child Restraint (3 counts)
Patrol officers responded to the area of Aycock St. in regards to a vehicle that had struck the railroad tracks. According to reports, officers arrived and Bryson Bias was identified as the operator of that vehicle. It was determined that Bias operated the vehicle in a reckless manner and his Louisiana Driver’s License was under suspension. There were also three small children in the vehicle at the time of the crash that was not properly restrained in accordance with Louisiana Law. The vehicle was found to be without any insurance. Reports indicate that Bias was found to be in an intoxicated state. Bias performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Bias was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail for Chemical Test which he later refused to submit to. Bias was booked into the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Sterling Smith, 26 years of age, address: Solar Trailer Park, Thibodaux, La., arrested on 08/22/2017 @ 10:02 p.m.
Charges: Possession of Marijuana
Improper Turning
Driving under Suspension
Patrol officers observed a vehicle negotiate an improper turn in the area of Victor II Blvd. A stop was initiated and Sterling Smith was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Smith’s Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. Smith was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Smith was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail. Smith was booked and incarcerated.
Labelle Williams, 35 years of age, address: Oak St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/23/2017 @ 1:42 a.m.
Charges: Simple Battery
Labelle Williams was located and arrested in the area of Oak St. on an active arrest warrant held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on July 1, 2017, when the victim alleged that they struck by Williams. Warrants were prepared for Williams’ arrest. Williams was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
