The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 09/01/2014:

 

 

Brandon T. Kent, 26 years of age, Address-Short St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/01/2014 @ 8:12am

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Pay Probation Fee; Warrant: Probation Violation

Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence located in the 200 block of Chennault St. and upon arrival located Brandon Kent.  Kent was discovered to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City, La. Kent was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Kaylee M. Payne, 18 years of age, Address-Freret St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/01/2014 @ 8:52am

Charge: Disturbing the Peace; Resisting an Officer; Battery of a Police Officer; Possession of Schedule I CDS-Synthetic Marijuana Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     Officers were dispatched to a Freret St. residence regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived to encounter a female, Kaylee Payne who was screaming, causing a disturbance and using profanities.  The subject was removed from the residence by officers at the request of the owner.  A short time later, Payne returned to the residence and again, began to cause a disturbance.  As officers intervened, Payne, according to reports struck the officer in the face as he attempted to place her in handcuffs.  Payne was restrained and placed in the rear of a police unit.  Payne continued to resist and attempted to break free of her restraints and leave the scene.  The subject was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and had to be escorted to a holding cell due to her combative and uncooperative actions.  Payne was searched by jail personnel and found to possess suspected synthetic marijuana as well as items of paraphernalia in her clothing.  Payne was booked and remains incarcerated with a bond of $7,500.00. 

 

 

Jeremy D. Williams, 33 years of age, Address-Ninth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/01/2014 @ 1:38pm

Charge: Failure to Signal Turn, Possession of Schedule II CDS-Crack Cocaine (Fifth Offense); No Motor Vehicle Insurance.

A patrolliing officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Marguerite St. and observed the vehicle fail to signal a turn.  The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver, Jeremy Williams.  Williams was found to be operating a vehicle with no liability insurance as required.  Officers also discovered suspected crack cocaine in plain view inside the vehicle and recovered it.  Upon a further search, additional pieces of suspected crack cocaine were located.  Jeremy Williams was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Donnie Smith, 45 years of age, Address-Freret St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/01/2014 @ 9:01pm

Charge: Theft by Shoplifting(Value $9.38); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Officers were dispatched to a Highway 182 supermarket in regards to a shoplifter.  Officers arrived to learn that a subject, Donnie Smith was suspected of concealing food items in his pants and was attempting to leave the store.  The officer detained Smith as he was attempting to leave the store for questioning.  Upon further investigation, the item valued at $9.38 which the subject had concealed in his pants was recovered by officers.  Also located was a pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics.  Smith was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Terrell V. Bullock, 21 years of age, Address-Seventh St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/02/2014 @ 1:05am

Officers were dispatched to the area of Federal Ave. and Greenwood St. in regards to a robbery.  Officers arrived to locate a victim who reported to officers that Terrell Bullock, an aquaintance of the victim had robbed the victim of money.  The victim stated that Bullock pushed him against a structure in a threatening manner, demanding money from the victim.  The victim reportedly surrendered $10.00 to the suspect who fled the scene.  Officers located the suspect in the area a short time later.  Terrell Bullock was identified as the suspect and the money was recovered.  Bullock was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Devon E. Marsh, 22 years of age, Address-Ciro St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/02/2014 @ 12:20pm

Charge: Hit & Run Driving; Careless Operation; Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License

     Officers were dispatched to an Arizona St. residence regarding a Hit & Run accident.  Officers arrived in the area to discovered several garbage cans scattered about the street and several mail boxes damaged.  Officers learned from witnesses that Devon Marsh had reportedly became involved in a verbal altercationw ith another subject at that location.  During the disturbance, Marsh reportedly sped away from the scene driving his vehicle striking several mail boxes and garbage cans in the area.  Officers contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department who located Marsh at his residence.  Devon Marsh came to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to the incident to speak with officers.  As a result of the evidence and witness statements, Marsh was arrested for the accident.  His drivers license was also found to be suspended.  He was booked and released after posting a bond of $1,214.00.

Arrest Report 08/29/2014

Charges: Improper Telephone Communications (Misuse of 911 Emergency System)

Officers were dispatched to a Fifth St. residence regarding a telephone call made to 911 emergency services.  The caller advised that she wanted to check on the status of an incarcerated person.  Officers arrived and located the complainant, Michelle Brown.  According to reports, Brown had made several calls through 911 Emergency during the last several days regarding various non-emergency complaints.  Officers had previously warned Brown about the misuse of the 911 Emergency System, however she continued to contact 911.  Michelle Brown was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated with a bond of $500.00. 

 

 

Kevin J. Drexler, 31 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/28/2014 @ 6:00pm

Kevin Drexler was arrested in the City Court Building and charged with Probation Violation.  He was escorted to the Morgan City Jail facility where he was booked and remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Donnie Smith, 45 years of age, Address-Maine St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/28/2014 @ 9:32pm

Officers were flagged down in the area of the 500 block of Fifth St. regarding a disturbance.  The complainant advised that a male subject, Donnie Smith was fleeing from the area.  Officers observed a male subject running from the area.  The officer pursued and detained the subject, Donnie Smith for investigation.  According to the complainant,  Smith was confronted by the homeowner of the residence after he was found in the rear yard of the residence.  The homeowner made attempts to detain Smith, however Smith broke free and fled.  Donnie Smith was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  He was released after posting a cash bond. 

 

 

Carleun C. Chapman, 37 years of age, Address-Louisiana St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2014 @ 4:03am

Charge: Driving on Right Side of Road; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Cocaine (4th Offense)

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Hwy 182 in the passing lane, obstructing passing traffic, not driving on the right had side of the road as required.  The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver and identified Carleun C. Chapman and a male passenger.  As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed evidence which indicated that the vehicle may contain illegal narcotics.  During the investigation, the driver, Chapman denied a search of his vehicle and told the officer to "call the dog".  The Morgan City Police Department Canine was summoned to the scene and performed a sweep of the exterior of the vehicle, giving a positive response for the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics.  The officers searched the vehicle pursuant to the canine response and were able to recover a substance which tested positive for Crack Cocaine, a controlled dangerous substance.  Chapman was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Arrest Report 08/27/2014

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 08/26/2014:

 

 

Lakendrick C. Chambers, 24 years of age, Address-Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/26/2014 @ 8:37am

Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery; Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Under $500.00)

     Officers responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance at a Garber St. residence and upon investigation, located a female victim who advised that she had been in a verbal arguement with a male subject, Lakendrick Chambers.  She advised that the confrontation turned physical at which time Chambers struck her several times causing minor injuries and damaged a cell phone valued at $200.00 to prevent a call for assitance.  Officers located Lakendrick Chambers who had left the residence a short time later and placed him under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Effie Wiltz turned herself in to an officer at the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department which she is accused of using anothers access card to make purchases valued at $637.25 from a local drug store.  The investigation began on July 02, 2014.  Wiltz was booked and incarcerated.

     Dustin Macaluso was located at a Hilda St. residence and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department from a November 2013 incident.  Macaluso was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers were dispatched to a Seventh St. residence regarding a disturbance.  When officers arrived, they discovered a male, David Brown and female, Josephine Segura involved in a verbal altercation in the front of the residence.  It was determined that both subjects had been involved in a fistic encounter which caused the disturbance.  Both had minor injuries and evidence of the encounter and were arrested.  They were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Marco Antonio, 40 years of age, Address-Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/30/2014 @ 7:16am

     Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 Block of Federal Ave. in regards to a battery on a person.  When officers arrived, they encountered the resident and homeowner who advised that while sleeping, he woke to encounter a male subject inside his residence who attacked  him.  The homeowner told officers that he was able to fend off the attack using a broomstick causing the attacker to retreat and leave the residence.  Officers were able to gather evidence at the scene which led them to an apartment located in the 1100 block of Federal Ave.  Officers were able to locate a suspect, Marco Antonio inside an apartment and postively identify him as the accused suspect.  Marco Antonio was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated with a bond of $50,000.00.  

 

 

Reynol Lopez, 28 years of age, Address-Main St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 08/30/2014 @ 5:01pm

     Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Federal Ave. regarding a hit & run accident.  Officers arrived and learned that a vehicle had struck another vehicle causing the vehicle to strike and damage a utility pole in the area.  Witness observed the driver then flee the scene.  A bystander managed to follow the vehicle until police arrived and led police officers to the suspect and vehicle involved in the accident.  Officers proceeded to Railroad Ave. and located the suspect, Reynol Lopez who was positively identified as the suspect.  Lopez was arrested after he was found to be operating a vehicle with no drivers license and for Hit&Run.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Tyler Kapp was removed from the fairgrounds at the festival by officers after he was observed causing a disturbance.  Officers later located Kapp, who returned to the area after being forbid.  He was arrested and found to be in possession of items of drug paraphernalia.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers working security at the festival grounds observed a male subject, Mario Tejera who was known to be wanted on outstanding warrants.  Tejera was detained and placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers working security at the festival grounds encountered a male subject Logan Charpentier who was discovered to be wanted on outsanding warrants dated from 2010.  Charpentier was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Manuel Mejia, 40 years of age, Address-Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/31/2014 @ 3:29pm

     A patrolling officer encounted an traffic accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of Highway 182 near U.S. 90.  One driver, Manuel Mejia, according to witnesses struck a vehicle causing the vehicle to strike another causing the accident.  The driver, Mejia was found not to possess a valid drivers license and was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  There were no injuries to report.

     Officers were dispatched to the area of Lake End Park regarding a complaint of a male subject attempting to drown a female.  Officers arrived and upon further investigation, learned from witnesses that a male subject, identified as Max Cordova was accused of approaching a 16 year old female juvenile in the water and begin to hold her head under water.  The subject, according to witnesses then attempted to remove the bathing suit top of the juvenile.  The juvenile manage to escape from the subject.  Witnesses advised that the male subject, Cordova then exited the water and was stopped by a witness, Dusty Rineheart who began to strike the subject, Cordova, causing injuries which required medical attention at Teche Regional Hospital.  Dusty Rineheart was arrested for the battery.  Cordova was arrested and transported to the hospital to receive medical treatment.  Upon his release, he was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  The female juvnile victim was not injured in the incident.

     An officer working security at the festival grounds observed a vehicle bypass the barricades near the fair grounds.  The vehicle was observed almost striking seveal bystanders in the area and was stopped by the officer.  The officer identified the driver, Leslie Trant who was found to be in a suspected impaired condition.  Trant was given a field sobriety test in which she failed.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test which results indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .197g%.  Trant was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Karl Vaughn, 58 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/31/2014 @ 10:27pm

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated; Resisting an Officer; Remaining where Forbidden

     A patrolling officer working security at the festival grounds was directed by witnesses to two male subjects involved in an altercation.  As officers approached, one subject Karl Vaughn approached an officer within inches and began to yell profanities at the officer.  Another officer stepped in and moved Vaughn from the officer and intervened.  Vaughn, who continued his behavior was ordered to leave the premises which he refused to do so.  Officers then attempted to arrest Karl Vaughn at which time he resisted officers attempts and had to be physically restrained and placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgna City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Eric Gaskins was arrested by officers after they were dispatched to a complaint of a disturbance at a Highway 182 motel.  Officers arrived and attempted to quiet the disturbance between Gaskins and another subject at that location.  Gaskins continued to cause a disturbance by yelling profanities and refused to cooperate with police officers.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and released after posting a cash bond.

Leroy Bailey was located at a Third St. residence and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for the City Court of Morgan City.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a male subject fall from a bicycle in the area of Front St. and stopped to assist.  The subject, Daniel Ackman Jr. had struck a parked car with the bicycle.  The subject, Ackman appeared  highly intoxicated and could barely stand on his own.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Driver's License; Possession of Schedule II CDs-Cocaine

A patrolling officer observed Hodges Matthews operating a motor vehicle on U.S. 90 in Morgan City and was aware that the subject was operating with a suspended drivers license.  The officer stopped the vehicle and detained Matthews who was indeed, operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  As the officers came into contact with the driver, a strong odor of marijuana was eminating from the vehicle.  Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a substance which tested positive as containing cocaine, a controlled substance.  Hodges Matthews was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Tyrone F. Thomas, 50 years of age, Address-Sixth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/28/2014 @ 3:33am

Officers responded to the area of Brashear Ave. and Seventh St. to locate a subject who was involved in a disturbance and had fled the scene from a residence.  Officers located the subject and identified him as Tyrone F. Thomas.  Thomas was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Louisiana State Police Troop C and placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

David A. Darcey,20 years of age, Address-Horseshoe Rd. Plaquemine, La. was arrested on 08/28/2014 @ 3:35am

Officers received a complaint of a disturbance at Seventh St. and Greewood St. and arrived to investigate.  As officers approached the subjects at that location, a male subject fled from the scene.  Officers captured the subject a short distance later and found that the subject was identified as attempting to fight with others at that location.  David Darcey, was also found to be in possession of a Schedule I CDS-Marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle traveling on Highway 182 near Ditch Ave. The officer was able to determine that the vehicle was traveling 51mph in a 35mph zone and stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver.  The driver, identified as James Wagner, when asked to retreive his identification and registration documents confirmed to officers that he possessed a .45 cal. handgun inside his vehicle.  As officers retreived the weapon, officers observed items of suspected drug paraphernalia and a substance believed to be cocaine, a controlled substance scattered about the passenger seat.  The substance was tested with a presumptive test was conducted which indicated a positive result.  Officers secured the vehicle.  During the subsequent investigation, officers located baggies, vacuum sealing materials and other items of paraphernalia.  Officers also located suspected marijuana and several pills of various controlled substances such as Hydrocodone, Xanax, Clonazepam and Amphetamines.  Evidence was uncovered which suggested that Wagner was involved in the sales of illegal narcotics.  James Wagner admitted to officers that he had was indeed involved in the sales of narcotics, inlcuding various controlled substances which he stated he possessed prescriptions.  Wagner was found to possess $2,573.00 in U.S. Currency which was seized pending civil forfeiture proceedings and believed to be derived from the sales of narcotics.  James Wagner was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated.
