     An officer on LA Hwy 182 observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Manuel Mantalaba was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that Mantalaba appeared intoxicated. Mantalaba was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test in which he performed poorly. Mantalaba was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Mantalaba submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Mantalaba’s results yielded a .152g% blood alcohol content. Mantalaba was booked and incarcerated.

               Improper Lane Usage

   Officers responded to the area of US Hwy 90 and Martin Luther King Blvd. in regards to a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner. A description was given of the vehicle and it was located on Martin Luther King Blvd and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver, George Tate was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that Tate appeared intoxicated and that there was an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Tate was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which he performed poorly. Tate was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.  Once at the department, Tate submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Tate’s results yielded a .178g% blood alcohol content. Tate was booked and incarcerated.

The warrant stems from an incident in August that alleges Barnett was in possession of buprenorphine in the presence of a small child.  Barnett was booked and incarcerated.

Once at the police department, a correctional officer located suspected methamphetamine and pills identified as clonazepam and viagra for which she did not have a prescription. Guidry was additionally charged and incarcerated.

   An officer in the area of Wren St. observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Tyrese Thomas was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. The passengers in the vehicle were identified as Tyler Sylvester and Nyjul Hillebrant. During the course of the investigation, suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. Thomas, Sylvester, and Hillebrandt were all placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Michael L. Guidry, 50 years of age, Address-Sixth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/07/2018 @ 2:39 am.

Charge: Warrant-First Degree Murder (Bond $1,000,000)

               Warrant- Parole Violation

  On October 01, 2018, the Morgan City Police Department began an investigation of a suspicious death at a residence located on 1200 Walnut Dr.  The victim, Patricia Lyn Russo, 70 years of age was discovered inside the home. Investigators initial assessment of the circumstances and evidence indicated that foul play was involved. Upon completion of the autopsy, the death was ruled a homicide. During the course of the investigation, Michael L. Guidry was developed as a suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest.

   On October 06, 2018 at 4:30 pm, Morgan City Police Department Detectives along with the assistance of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office located Guidry at a residence in Independence, La. and placed him under arrest. Guidry was booked into the Tangipahoa Parrish Jail as a fugitive. Guidry was transported from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department and booked on First Degree Murder, Bank Fraud, and Parole Violation. Guidry remains incarcerated with his bail set at $1,250,000.

Richardson was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which he performed poorly. Richardson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Richardson submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Richardson’s results yielded a .163g% blood alcohol content. Richardson was booked and incarcerated.

   Officers responded to a local motel on Brashear Ave. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and made contact with the motel management. According to reports, Robert Folse and Deshawn Smith had gotten into a verbal altercation that later turned physical. Both Folse and Smith began fighting each other with metal objects. Smith required medical treatment for his injuries. Both Folse and Smith were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

      Officers responded to the Morgan City Cemetery in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and were told by witnesses that an individual identified as Tori Madise was there yelling profanities and causing a disturbance, but had left in a vehicle prior to officers arrival. A description of the vehicle was given out and the vehicle was located in the Brownell Homes area. Officers made contact with Tori Madise and the passenger in her vehicle Natasha Bergeron. Madise was placed under arrest. A computer check revealed that Bergeron held active warrants for the Morgan City Police Department and the 6^th Ward City Court, she was placed under arrest. Both Madise and Bergeron were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

  Officers responded to a business on Seventh St. in regards to a shoplifter. Officers arrived and were told by management that an individual had come into the store and had taken items without making a purchase. The individual had left the store in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. A description of the vehicle was given out and the vehicle was located on LA Hwy 182. The driver, Nicole Atkinson was asked about the incident. Reports indicate that Atkinson admitted to the theft. Atkinson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

  An officer on LA Hwy 182 observed a vehicle swerving in and out the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Michael Bray was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that Bray appeared intoxicated. Bray was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, he refused. Bray was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Bray submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Bray’s results yielded a .217g% blood alcohol content. A computer check revealed that Bray had three prior Driving While Intoxicated charges within the last ten years. Bray was booked and incarcerated.

   An officer responded to a residence on Terrrebonne St in regards to a hit and run vehicle accident. The officer arrived and made contact with the victim who stated that someone backed into her parked vehicle. According to reports, information was received from witnesses that identified the other vehicle and the driver as being Leroy Walker. Walker was contacted and returned to the scene of the accident. Reports indicate Walker admitted to crashing into the vehicle and leaving the scene. Walker was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

      Officers responded to the area of Fifth St. in regards to a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner. A vehicle fitting the description was located on Fifth St. and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver, Kyle Benoit was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Benoit’s driver’s license was suspended. Benoit was also found with suspected marijuana in his possession. Benoit was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Reports indicate that a license plate was on the motorcycle, however, it was not registered to that motorcycle. There was also no insurance on the motorcycle. Scully was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
