Driving Under Suspension
An officer on Hwy 90 westbound, observed a vehicle swerving in and out the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, David Elliot was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Elliot’s license was suspended. Elliot was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Nicole Percle was located on Egle St. and placed under arrest for an active warrant she held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an incident in March of 2017, which alleges Percle tampered with an electrical meter and reconnected the utilities Percle was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

A patrol officer in the area of LA Hwy 182 and Aycock St. observed a vehicle with improper light. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Amilcar Castanon was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Castanon did not have a valid driver’s license. Castanon was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division conducted an undercover operation on fairgrounds of the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival in the area of Greenwood and Second St. Contact was made with an individual identified as Tyrique Jones. According to reports, Jones had a smell of marijuana emitting from his person. While talking to officers Jones tried to flee but was apprehended a short time later. Jones was found with suspected marijuana packaged for sale in his possession. Jones was in possession of US Currency over $1000.00 believed to be proceeds from illegal drug activity. Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Sheets was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Officers located Alton Kemp on the fairgrounds of the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival in the area of Greenwood St. and placed under arrest for active warrants he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an incident in June that alleges Kemp made repeated calls and threats to an individual. While conducting a search of Kemp’s person, suspected heroin was located. The area Kemp was arrest is consider a drug free zone because it’s within 1000 feet of a church. Kemp was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

A search of the vehicle was conducted with suspected marijuana packaged for sale and US Currency over $1000.00 believed to be derived from illegal drug activity was located. Gabriel was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Keith R. Porter, 34 years of age, Address- New Orleans, La. was arrested on 09/01/2018 @ 12:00 am. Charge: Hit & Run
Officers responded to a local hotel on Roderick St. in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the victim who stated his vehicle was damaged and noticed that the vehicle parked in the next slot possibly caused the damaged. Officers did observe that the damaged to the other vehicle was consistent with the victim’s damage. The owner of the vehicle was located and identified as Keith Porter. According to reports, Porter admitted to crashing into the vehicle. Porter was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.

Improper Lane Usage
Officers responded to the LA Hwy 182 Bridge in regards to a driver possibly under the influence. A description of the vehicle was given out and located on Federal Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Bridget Bergeron was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that Bergeron appeared under the influence of some type of narcotic. Bergeron performed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test which she performed poorly. Bergeron was placed under arrest Also, the passenger of the vehicle, Samantha Scully was found to have active warrants with the Morgan City Police Department and placed under arrest. Both were transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Bergeron submitted to the chemical test for intoxication and yielded a result of .000g% blood alcohol content. Bergeron then submitted a urine sample and the results are pending. Both Bergeron and Scully were booked and incarcerated.

Officers working the fairground of the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival in the area of Front and Greenwood could smell an odor of marijuana. Officers made contact with an individual later identified as Brieanne Brown, who appeared to hold a hand-rolled cigar containing suspected marijuana. The cigar was taken from Brown and did contain suspected marijuana. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Kenneth Smith, 57 years of age, Address- Park St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 09/01/2018 @ 9:46 pm. Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 2

Obstruction of Public Passages
A patrol officer observed a vehicle blocking the Federal Ave. up ramp of US Hwy 90. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Kenneth Smith was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Smith’s breath. Smith was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test which he performed poorly. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Smith was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication but refused. A search warrant was obtained to collect a sample of blood from Smith. Smith was transported to a local hospital for the collection. After obtaining the blood sample, Smith was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Jean L. Gros, 40 years of age, Address- Utah St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/01/2018 @ 9:51 pm. Charge: Disturbing the Peace Offensive Language
Officers encountered Jean Gros in Lawrence Park, during Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. Reports indicate that Gros was causing a disturbance and was asked to calm down. However, Gros continued to yell and use profanities. Gros was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

An officer patrolling the area of Justa St. observed a vehicle stopped in the opposite lane of travel with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and was able to awake the drive. The officer noticed the driver had a suspected synthetic marijuana cigarette in his mouth. The driver identified as Joshua Lousteau was asked to exit the vehicle. According to reports, Lousteau appeared to be under the influence of an illegal narcotic. Lousteau was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test in which he performed poorly. Lousteau was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Lousteau submitted to the chemical test for intoxication and yielded a result of .000g%. Lousteau did submit a sample of urine and those results are pending. Lousteau was booked and incarcerated.

Kaleb Smith was placed under arrest in the area of Front and Greenwood St. Reports indicate that Smith was yelling and using profanities in the presence of small children in the area. Reckless Operation of a Vehicle
An officer in the area of LA Hwy 182 and Martin Luther King Blvd. observed a vehicle operating in a reckless manner. A traffic stop was done on the vehicle and the driver, Phillip Begley was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Begley’s breath. Begley was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test in which he performed poorly. Begley was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Begley refused to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. A search warrant was obtained to retrieve a sample of Begley’s blood. Begley was transported to a local hospital for the retrieval of the sample. The results of the sample are pending. Begley was transported back to the police department for booking and incarceration.
Brandon Doiron, 38 years of age, Address- Heritage Oak Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/03/2018 @ 1:38 pm. Charge: Warrant- Violation of a Protective Order
Brandon Doiron was located and placed under arrest in the area of Third and Everett St. for an active warrant, he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an incident in March of 2017 which alleges that Doiron contacted the victim via telephone, violating the protective order. Officers working the fairgrounds of the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival in the area of Greenwood St. came into contact with an individual that appeared to be under the influence an illegal narcotic. The individual at first gave officers a false name but later identified as Troy Shoemaker. Officers located suspected methamphetamine on Shoemaker’s person. Shoemaker was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Officers responded to a local business on Roderick St. in regards to a disturbance. Information was received that the individual involved in the disturbance had left in a vehicle heading eastbound on LA Hwy 182. A description of the vehicle was given out and the officers located the vehicle on LA Hwy 182 just past the Greenwood Overpass. The driver of the vehicle, Calvin Acosta was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Acosta’s license was suspended. The passenger of the vehicle, Harley Thibodeaux was found to have drug paraphernalia in her possession. Both Acosta and Thibodeaux were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
