Arrest Report 01/21/2014

The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 01/17/2014:

     Errol Johnson, 54 years of age, arrested on 01/17/2014 @ 3:11pm. Charge: Warrant: Aggravated Battery.

 Errol Johnson 01162014      Johnson was arrested by the Morgan City Police Department on 01/16/2014 for various felony charges related to the subject approaching females in parking lots, staging a gasoline leak from their vehicle and then robbing the females as they were distracted.  During the subsequent investigation by Morgan City detectives, additional charges were levied against Johnson after he was accused of using his vehicle to attempt to move a victim from his path by striking the victim several times with his vehicle.  The victim was unharmed in the incident.  The investigation is continuing.  Johnson remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail Facility. 

 

 

 

    Keith Singleton, 46 years of age, Address-Jennie Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/17/2014 @ 8:51pm Charge: Warrant: Simple Battery

  Keith Singleton 01172014   Singleton was arrested after he was located at a Florence Street address on an outstanding warrant for Simple Battery stemming from an incident which is alleged to have occurred in December 2013.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he wasa booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

 

 

 

     Priscilla A. Francis, 41 years of age, Address-Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 01/20/2014 @ 11:11am Charge: Simple Battery

 Priscilla A. Francis 01202014    Francis, who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail Facility was arrested and charged with Simple Battery after she allegedly attached another female inmate housed in the facility.  Francis was booked and re-incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail facility. 

 

 

 

 

 

     Tyler E. Brewer, 21 years of age, Address-Louisa St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/20/2014 @ 5:50pm    Charge: Warrant: Probation Violation; Driving with a Suspended Drivers License; Stop Sign Violation

  Tyler E. Brewer 01202014   Brewer was arrested after an officer observed a vehicle which he was operating fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Allison St.  The subject, Brewer was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license and also was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the City Court of Morgan City.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. 

 

 

 

 

      Bairon Caceres, 24 years of age, Address-New Orleans, La. was arrested on 01/20/2014 @ 8:24pm    Charges: Simple Kidnapping; Resisting an Officer

 Bairon Caceres 01202014    Caceres was arrested after officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Spruce Street residence.  Officers arrived and found a large disturbance as other subjects were attempting to restrain Caceres.  According to witnesses, Caceres went to the location and came into contact with a female, whom Caceres had a previous relationship with.  Caceres reportedly grabbed the female by the arm and attempted to remove here from the residence.  Officers attempted to restrain Caceres to place him under arrest but he resisted their attempts. He was eventually subdued, arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

 

     James M. Murray, 26 years of age, Address-Arkansas St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/20/2014 @ 10:57pm     Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery (2nd Offense)

  James M. Murray 01202014     James Murray was arrested after officers received a complaint of a subject who was possibly shot at a residence on Arkansas Street.  Officers arrived and learned that Murray and a female subject had been involved in an altercation prior to officers arrived.  Murray was accused of striking the female repeatedly.  After the female victim sought refuge in a rear bedroom of the residence and summoned help, Murray reportedly broke into the rear room and began to strike the female again.  Witnesses arrived and helped the victim from the residence.  The subject Murray left the residence on foot.  Officers received information that Murray may be in possession of a handgun.  Officers blocked the area off and began a search for the subject.  Officers were able to locate Murray nearby and placed the subject under arrest.  A search was made of the area and the residence but the search turned up no weapons.  Murray was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

        Errol Johnson, 54 years of age, Address-Belle Rose, Louisiana was arrested on 01/16/2014 @ 11:57am

Errol Johnson 01162014 Charges: Simple Burglary of a Vehicle; Illegal Possession of Stolen Things(Vehicle-Value$8,000); Illegal Possession of Stolen Things under $500.00; Aggravated Flight from an Officer; Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; Hold for Terrebone Parish Sheriff’s Office-Warrants: Simple Burglary and Unauthorized Use of an Access Card

     On 01/16/2014 the Morgan City Police Department received information from Terrebone Parish to be on the lookout for a male subject approaching females at businesses and staging a gasoline leak near their vehicle.  The subject, according to the information would approach the females, pretending to come to their aid and eventually rob the females. 

     A short time later, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint at a drug store located on Brashear Avenue which described a black male subject who approached a female, alleging a gasoline leak and asking for the vehicle keys.  Officer were provided a description of the suspect and a vehicle which the suspect was driving.  As officers searched the area and began to search for the suspect, Terrebone Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted and more information was relayed regarding the bulletin and possible suspects.  Patrolling officers encountered a vehicle and driver which fit the description provided in the bulletin, however, the suspect, upon seeing officers, immediately fled in the vehicle leading officers on a vehicle pursuit.  The suspect eventually pulled his vehicle to a Highway 182 business, exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot into the businesses warehouse.  Officers gave pursuit and were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Errol Johnson inside the warehouse.  Johnson was found to possess credit cards in his possession which did not belong to him along with items of drug paraphernalia. 

     As officers secured the scene, they learned of a vehicle burglary which occurred at a Brashear Ave. supermarket.  The officers recovered items which Johnson attempted to discard during the pursuit which was allegedly taken in that burglary.

     Errol Johnson, who was found to be operating a vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License was found to be driving a stolen vehicle from Lafayette, La. during the pursuit.  It was recovered. 

     Errol Johnson was arrested, and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was questioned by Detectives of the Morgan City Police Department as well as Terrebone and St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department.  Based on those interviews and other evidence obtained, additional charges may follow.  The suspect was booked into the Morgan City Jail Facility where he remains incarcerated.  Terrebone Parish Authorities have placed a hold on additional warrants for Simple Burglary and Unauthorized Use of an Access Card related to incidents in that jurisdiction.  If anyone has any information regarding this subject, Errol Johnson, or any other crime, please contact the Morgan City Police Department  @ 985-380-4605 or your local law enforcement agency.
