Darnell Johnson, 36 years of age, Address-Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 12/17/2014 @ 6:19pm

Charge: Disturbing the Peace; Resisting an Officer; Simple Criminal Damage to Property

     Officers were dispatched to a Railroad Ave. convenience store in regards to a subject who refused to leave the premises and was alarming the employees.  Officer arrived to locate Darnell Johnson who was identified as the subject. Darnell was given an opportunity to leave the premises but refused and began to create a disturbance by yelling profanities and threatening the officers.  The subject refused to cease and was placed under arrest.  During hsi arrest, Johnson had to be physically restrained and placed in the rear of a police unit where he was transported to the Morgan City Police Jail facility.  Once at the jail facility, Johnson is accused of damaging a video camera in the holding area.  He was additionally charged. He remains incarcerated.

Robbery Investigation Update 12/16/2014

ROBBERY/ATTEMPTED MURDER INVESTIGATION

UPDATE

     Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department continues it's investigation into an alleged home invasion, robbery and attempted murder which began on December 14, 2014 @ 4:50 am after police responded to a 911 call made by a 33 year old male subject who reported that he had been attacked in his home.  Officer located the victim with lacerations and cuts about various parts of his body.  That male victim was eventually transported to a New Orleans Hospital where he was last listed in "stable" condition.  

      Detectives, during the investigation, identified two suspects who were ultimately arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder.  The suspects, Geronimo Martinez and a female, Mariah Grimes were booked into the Morgan City jail facility where they were incarcerated.  Investigators also identified three other suspects who were suspected of fleeing the area.  With the help of Vidor, Texas Police Department authorities, those suspects were located and detained.  Jesus Munoz  Perez, Ossiel Munoz Perez and Zenen Vasquez were ultimately arrested and incarcerated by Vidor authorities on outstanding warrants for Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder secured by Morgan City Police Department detectives.  

     On additional statements and evidence, both Geronimo Martinez and Mariah Grimes were additionally booked on a warrant for Aggravated Burglary in the incident.  

     Morgan City Police Department have been notified that Jesus Munoz Perez, Ossiel Munoz Perez and Vasquez Zenen have waived extradition back to Louisiana.  They will be transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they will be booked and additionally charged with a warrant for Aggravated Burglary along with the initial warrants for Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder.  The investigation continues. Robbery Investigation Arrests 12/15/2014

ROBBERY AND ATTEMPTED MURDER INVESTIGATION

 

     On 12/14/2014 @ 4:50 am, the Morgan City Police Department responded to an Emergency 911 caller and victim who advised that subjects had entered his residence and cut him with a knife.  Officers arrived at the residence located in the 800 block of Levee Rd. to find the victim bleeding from several gashes and wounds about his body.  Emergency medical personnel were summoned and the male victim, a 33 year old male subject, was transported to Teche Regional Hospital where he was treated and transported to a New Orleans Hospital and is listed in stable condition.  

     Detectives investigating the incident learned from the victim that a female subject, came to his residence and with the help of male subjects, gained entry into his front door and attacked and robbed him of an unspecified amount of cash money.  The victim said that the subjects beat him with a tire wrench and cut him repeatedly with a knife in the robbery.  The victim was able to summon help after the suspects left the residence.

      Morgan City Police Department investigators began their search for the suspects and with the help of interviews, identified a female, Mariah A. Grimes and a hispanic male, Geronimo R. Martinez as "Persons of Interest".  Investigators searched several areas in the city and recovered additional evidence and statements through their efforts, eventually located Grimes and Martinez.  Both Mariah A. Grimes and Geronimo R. Martinez were detained and as a result of the evidence and statements were booked on outstanding warrants charging both with Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder.

     During the investigation, three hispanic males were identified as "Persons of Interest" and suspected of having knowledge of the crime.  Investigators were able to identify those persons and suspected that they had fled the Morgan City area.  Investigators were successful in locating those individuals in Vidor, Texas after they were stopped and detained by authorities.  Based on the investigation, the suspects, Jesus Munoz Perez, Zenen Vasquez, and Ossiel Munoz Perez were arrested by Texas authorities for warrants obtained by Morgan City Police Detectives charging the three with Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder. They will be additionally charged with Aggravated Burglary.

D'Marcus Holly was escorted from the City Court of Morgan City to the Morgan City Police Deppartment where he was booked on outstanding warrants for the City Court of Morgan City.  He remains incarcerated with a $3,000.00 bond.

     On 12/16/2014, Officers were dispatched to an Apple St. residence in regards to a possible rape which had occurred.  Detectives were summoned to the scene to locate an 18 year old female victim who advised that she was raped by force.  The victim identified her attacker as Jacolbi J. Francois of Cypress St. in Morgan City.  The victim received medical treatment at Teche Regional Hospital.  Detectives located the suspect at his Cypress St. residence and detained the subject for investigation.  Investigators secured a search warrant for the Cypress St. residence where evidence was uncovered which cooberated the victim's statement of events.   Francois was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was interviewed.  During the interview, Jacolbi J. Francois admitted to the encounter and that the female victim attempted to resist.  Based on the evidence recovered and statements, an arrest warrant was secured for his arrest.  Jacolbi J. Francois was booked and incarated with no bond yet set.

     Phyllis Leblanc turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked on an outstanding warrant which was filed by detectives as a result of an investigation into a disturbance at a Victor II Blvd. lounge which was reported on November 16, 2014.  Leblanc is accused of striking another person causing injuries which required medical treatment.  Leblanc was booked and incacerated.

     Brianna Aguilar, along with a 15 year old female juvenile, were arrested after officers were dispatched to the Morgan City High School regarding a fight.  According to staff, the subjects were separated and escorted to the office.  Both were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked.  The juvenile was released to an adult until juvenile court proceedings.

     Sade M. Singleton turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked on an outstanding warrant based on an investigtion of a reported theft of funds from a Morgan City restaurant.  Singelton, who was employed at the restaurant is accused of the theft of funds from a cash register on several occasions between May 2014 and June 2014.  Detectives investigating the incident prepared the warrant as a result of the investigation.  She was booked and released on a cash bond.

Officers received a complaint of a domestic disturbance at a Jennie Dr. address and arrived to learn from witnesses that a female, Brittney Pitts had struck a male subject during a physical encounter.  Pitts was accused of striking the male and then arming herself with a bottle which she reportedly used as a weapon to strike the victim several times.  Brittney Pitts fled from officers and was located a short time later and placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting on La. Hwy 182 and stopped to investigate.  The driver, Luis A. Pineda-Anchecta could not produce a valid driver license.  Pineda was also observed to have a suspicious substance on his upper lip, believed to be cocain, a controlled substance.  The driver, along with a passenger, Leandro Ruiz was detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted using a K-9.  Officers were able to locate several small celophane baggies which contained suspected cocaine.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

     Officers dispatched to a Union St. lounge regarding a subject causing a disturbance located an intoxicated subject, Ernest Mingo who was identified as the subject.  Mingo, who appeared in an impaired condition was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner in the area of Levee Rd. in Morgan City and was able to determine that the vehicle was traveling 61mph in a 25mph zone.  The vehicle was observed crossing the center line and the driver was observed not wearing proper restraints.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Freddie Sellers who was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers were dispatched to a Fifth St. residence regarding a domestic dispute.  Officer arrived and during the investigation learned from witnesses that they had observed Hope Delgado strike a male subject in the face causing injuries.  The victim was oberved with bruising and marks to his face area.  The female, Hope Delgado was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

     Robyn Blanc, who was being housed in the Morgan City Jail facility was booked and arrested on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department.  She was booked and remains incarcerated.

     Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Belanger St. regarding a vehicle crash.  Officers arrived and during the investigation learned that a vehicle, driven by Josue Vasquez had struck a parked vehicle and had attempted to leave the scene.  The driver, who exhibited signs of impairment was given a field sobriety test which he failed.  The subject, Josue Vasquez who did not possess a valid drivers license was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .310g%.  He was booked and incarcerated.

     Juan Gonzalez was arrested after he was observed operating a vehicle without a valid drivers license.  He was stopped in the area of Levee Rd. and Shaw St. and placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Brittnay Barlar was located at a Victor II Blvd. lounge and placed under arrest on an oustanding warrant which was filed as a result of a disturbance which was reported on December 14, 2014 to the Morgan City Police Department.  In that complaint, Barlar was accused of striking another person causing injuries requiring medical treatment.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.
