Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 42 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 08/30/2018:

Tajh P. Watson, 28 years of age, Address- Bergeron Lane Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/30/2018 @ 1:30 pm


Charge: Resisting an Officer False Information
               Illegal Carrying of a Weapon
               Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
               Resisting an Officer by Force
               Battery on a Police Officer
               Possession of a Stolen Firearm
               Firearm Free Zone

     Officers responded to the area of Franklin St. and Federal Ave. in regards to individual knocking on doors. Officers made contact with the individual, who initially gave officers a false name, but later was identified as Tajh Watson. According to reports, when trying to detain Watson, he committed a battery one of the officers. Officers located a .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm in the waistband of Watson. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Watson was a convicted felon. A computer check also revealed that the firearm was stolen. The area in which Watson was located is considered a Firearm Free Zone because it is within 1000 ft. of an elementary school.  Watson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Charles M. Gantt Jr, 61 years of age, Address- Aiken. SC was arrested on 08/30/2018 @ 6:52 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
               Violation of a Uniform CDS- Drug-Free Zone

     Officers working the fairground in the area of First and Greenwood St. observed an individual sitting in a vehicle. Officers made contact with the individual, Charles Gant and asked him to exit the vehicle. Reports indicate that an odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Gantt’s person. Also the area Gantt was located is considered a Drug Free Zone because it was within 1000 ft. of a church. Gant was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

MCPD Arrest Report 08/29/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 62 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 08/28/2018:

Kristie L. Bourg, 41 years of age, Address- Banks Court Pierre Part, La. was arrested on 08/28/2018 @ 2:44 pm.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Fines (2cts)

   Kristie Bourg was transported from the Assumption Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the 6th Ward City Court. Bourg was booked and incarcerated.

Davin B. Sanders, 24 years of age, Address- Dunnellon, FL was arrested on 08/28/2018 @ 9:21 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana

   The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division responded to a local motel on LA Hwy 182 in regards to possible illegal drug activity. Officers made contact with an individual sitting inside a vehicle identified as Davin Sanders, Reports indicate that officers could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and suspected marijuana was located. Sanders was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. 

Matthew H. Hebert, 28 years of age, Address- Bryan. TX was arrested on 08/28/2018 @ 11:31 pm.

Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
               Improper Lane Usage
               Stop Lights and Turn Signals Required

   A patrol officer observed a vehicle in the area of LA Hwy 182 and Myrtle St. with improper lighting and noticed that the vehicle was swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Matthew Hebert was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Hebert’s breath. Hebert was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which performed poorly. Hebert was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Hebert submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Hebert results yielded a .121g% of blood alcohol content. Hebert was booked and incarcerated.

Stafford Robertson, 36 years of age, Address- Adams St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 2:01 am.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

   Officers arrived at a parking lot of a local business on LA Hwy 182 and could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from a vehicle. Officers came into contact with an individual inside the vehicle identified as Stafford Robertson. According to reports, Robertson did admit to smoking marijuana and gave officers consent to search the vehicle. Officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Robertson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jessie Blakeman, 24 years of age, Address- Cypress St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 4:56 am.

Charge: Warrant- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
               Warrant- Contempt of Court (2cts)

  Jessie Blakeman was located at his residence and placed under arrest for active warrants he held for the Morgan City Police Department and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.  Blakeman was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Rhonda I. Hughes, 33 years of age, Address- Egle St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/24/2018 @ 12:56 am.

Charge: Simple Battery
               Disturbing the Peace
               Resisting an Officer- False Information
               Warrant- Failure to Appear

   Officers responded to a local motel on Brashear Ave. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and Rhonda Hughes was identified as the suspect. According to reports, the witnesses stated that Hughes had come to the motel caused a disturbance and committed a battery on the victim. When officers made contact with Hughes, she initially gave officers a false name. A warrant check was done Hughes and it was determined that she held an active warrant for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.


Louis J. Dumesnil Jr., 50 years of age, Address- Oakwood Dr. Franklin, La. was arrested on 08/24/2018 @ 4:00 pm.

Charge:  Warrant- Failure to Appear for Arraignment (4cts)

   Louis Dumesnil was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Dumesnil was booked an incarcerated.

Anthony Dixon 08242018
Anthony Dixon, 28 years of age, Address- Everett St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/24/2018 @ 4:24 pm.

Charge: Armed Robbery

   Officers responded to the area of Fifth and Everett St. in regards to an armed robbery. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. According to reports, the victim stated that while walking on Fifth St., he was struck in the head with a pipe by an individual identified as Anthony Dixon and approximately $80.00 in cash was taken from him. A description of Dixon was given out to officers. During the course of the investigation, information was received that Dixon was inside a residence on Everett St. Officers arrived at the residence where contact was made with Dixon inside the home. Dixon was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Charge: Discharging a Firearm

Possession Sch III CDS

   Officers responded to LA Hwy 70 to the extended stay section of Lake End Park in regards to a domestic disturbance and gunshots being heard.  Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. Reports indicate that the victim was having a verbal altercation with his wife, Tanya Authement which later turned physical when Authement struck him several times. During the altercation, the victim stated that his neighbor, Richard Leslie discharged his firearm. Officers were able to locate and speak to Leslie. According to reports, Leslie did admit to firing a .45 cal hand gun because he observed Authement chasing the victim. Leslie stated he fired the weapon in the air in order to stop the disturbance. Officers also located a vial of suspected anabolic steroid in Leslie’s possession.  Both Authement and Leslie were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Lawrence A. Garrett, 22 years of age, Address- Florida St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/25/2018 @ 12:47 am.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Probation Fees

   Lawrence Garrett was passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic stop on LA Hwy 182. A warrant check revealed that Garrett held an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Garrett was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Caffery J. Williams, 52 years of age, Address- Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/25/2018 @ 1:50 am.

               Resisting an Officer by Flight
               Driving Under Suspension
               Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

   A patrol officer in the area of Sixth and Marguerite St. observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. The officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to travel and evade the officer. The vehicle eventually stopped on Garber St. and the driver, Caffery Williams was placed under arrest.  While placing Williams under arrest, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Williams’ breath.  Also, an open container of alcohol was located inside the vehicle. Williams was transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Williams refused to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. A search warrant was obtained to take a sample of blood from Williams. Williams was transported to a local hospital for the sample to be drawn. After the sample was taken, Williams was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Courtney J. Long, 39 years of age, Address- Third St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/25/2018 @ 2:23 am.

Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense

Obstructing Public Passage

   Officers responded to the intersection of LA Hwy 182 and Myrtle St. in regards to a driver possibly asleep at the wheel. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle stopped at the intersection with the traffic signal green.  Officers were able to awake the driver identified as Courtney Long. Long was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, the officers could smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Long’s breath. Long was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, but refused. Long was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, he was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication, but he refused. A search warrant was obtained to have a sample of blood drawn from Long. Long was transported to a local hospital for the sample to be taken. After retrieving the sample, Long was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.  


Tuan V. Nguyen, 48 years of age, Address- Fandal St. Gibson, La. Gibson, La. was arrested on 08/25/2018 @ 9:24 am.

Charge: Warrant- Probation Violation

  Tuan Nguyen was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Nguyen was booked and incarcerated.


Joseph Martinez, 28 years of age, Address- Grandwood St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 0/25/2018 @ 10:17 pm.

Charge: Driving Under Suspension

   An officer in the area of Grizzaffi St. observed a vehicle without a license plate. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Joseph Martinez was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Martinez’s license was under suspension. Martinez was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Richard Fontenot, 45 years of age, Address- Hwy 663 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/26/2018 @ 12:50 am.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines

  Richard Fontenot was located and placed under arrest in the area of LA Hwy 182 and David Dr. for an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Fontenot was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

                Warrant- Criminal Damage to Property  

   Cortez Francois was located on Apple St. and placed under arrest for active warrants he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an incident in January where it is alleged Francois entered a home without permission, committed a battery on the victim and damaged the victim’s property. Francois was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Brandon Durkin, 28 years of age, Address- Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/26/2018 @ 4:13 pm.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Appear for Trial
               Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

      Brandon Durkin was located on Mallard St. and placed under arrest for an active warrant he held for the 16th Judicial District Court. Officers also located suspected synthetic marijuana packaged for sale in Durkin’s possession. Durkin was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Wybra S. Jones, 37 years of age, Address- Diane Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/26/2018 @ 8:20 pm.

               Resisting an Officer

     A patrol officer observed a vehicle on Martin Luther King Blvd. with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Wybra Jones was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that while talking to Jones, the officer noticed a baggie in his hand containing suspected marijuana. When trying to place Jones under arrest, he fled from the officer. Jones was apprehended a short time later and placed under arrest. Suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located in his possession. Jones transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Greg J. Robichaux, 47 years of age, Address- Houma, La, was arrested on 08/26/2018 @ 10:37 pm.

Charge: Possession of Sch II CDS- Oxycodone Hydrochloride

   An officer in the area of Federal and Brashear Ave. observed a vehicle going faster than the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Greg Robichaux was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. During the course of the investigation, Robichaux gave the officer consent to search his person, the officer located a pill identified as Oxycodone Hydrochloride. Robichaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Robert W. Jones, 26 years of age, Address- Oakdale St. Franklin, La. was arrested on 08/27/2018 @ 1:35 am.

Charge: Driving Under Suspension

   An officer on US Hwy 90 west bound, observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Robert Jones was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Jones’ driver’s license was suspended. Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

David J. Allen, 28 years of age, Address- Bergeron St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 5:05 am.

   David Allen was located on Cypress St. and placed under arrest for an active warrant for the 16th Judicial District. Officers also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Allen. Allen was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Anthony J. Harris, 22 years of age, Address- Arizona St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 8:59 am.

Charge: Warrant- Drug Court (2ct)

   Anthony Harris was located on Mount St. and placed under arrest for active warrants he held for 16th Judicial District Court. Harris was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

               Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

   A patrol officer on LA Hwy 182 near Martin Luther King Blvd. observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Tyler Sylvester was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that the officer could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The passenger, Abram Granger was asked to exit the vehicle.  Officers searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana on the passenger side floorboard.  Officers did locate several baggies of suspected marijuana on Sylvester’s person. Both Granger and Sylvester were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, suspected marijuana was located in the sock of Granger. Granger and Sylvester were both booked and incarcerated.

Colby T. Nicholas, 18 years of age, Address- Wren St. Morgan City, La was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 4:02 pm.

Charge: Remaining After Being Forbidden

   Colby Nicholas was located on Wren St. and placed under arrest. Nicholas had previously been barred from all Morgan City Housing Authority property. Nicholas was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Penny L. Daigle, 43 years of age, Address-Second St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 5:41 pm.

               Turning Movement and Required Signal

   The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division was patrolling the area of Federal and Brashear Ave when a vehicle was observed failing to use its turn signal. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Penny Daigle was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, the officers could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted. Suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Daigle was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

John Gibson, 28 years of age, Address- Headland St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 9:13 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense

   A vehicle was pulled over while driving through the DWI Checkpoint on LA Hwy 182. The driver, John Gibson was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that the smell of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was done and suspected marijuana was located. Gibson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Sacarl G. Martin, 40 years of age, Address- New Iberia, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 9:14 pm.
Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense

    A vehicle driven by Sacarl Martin was pulled over while driving through the DWI Checkpoint on LA Hwy 182. Sacarl Martin was escorted to a testing area and asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which he performed poorly. Martin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Martin submitted to the chemical test for intoxication and yielded a .081g% blood alcohol content. Martin was booked and incarcerated.

Lorenzo C. Merritt, 30 years of age, Address- Hurst St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 9:25 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense

   A vehicle driven by Lorenzo Martin was pulled over while driving through the DWI Checkpoint on LA Hwy 182. According to reports, officers could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was done and suspected marijuana was located. Merritt was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Justin L. Harris, 29 years of age, Address- Church Point, La. was arrested on 08/29/2018 @ 11:10 pm.

Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense

  A vehicle driven by Justin Harris was pulled over while driving through the DWI Checkpoint on LA Hwy 182. Harris was escorted to the testing area to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test.  Harris performed poorly and was placed under arrest. Harris was transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Harris submitted to the chemical test for intoxication and yielded a .117g% blood alcohol content. Harris was booked and incarcerated.

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 48 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning 08/27/2018:

Abel Gutierrez-Matias, 30 years of age, Address- River Rd. Berwick, La. was arrested on 08/27/2018 @ 4:00 pm.

Charge: No Driver’s License
               Careless Operation
   Officers responded to US Hwy 90 west bound in regards to a vehicle crash. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle, Abel Gutierrez-Matias stated that he was traveling west bound on US Hwy 90, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the concrete barrier. Matias did not sustain any injuries from the crash. Matias was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Matias never had a valid Louisiana driver’s license. Matias was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Tyler M. Hoffpauir, 22 years of age, Address- Chatsworth Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/27/2018 @ 7:32 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  

   Officers responded to Diane Dr. in regards to a suspicious vehicle in the area. A description of the vehicle was given out and officers were able to locate the vehicle on Martin Luther King Blvd. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, Tyler Hoffpauir was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. Reports indicate that the officers could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Hoffpauir was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jewel E. Templet, 61 years of age, Address-Belanger St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/23/2018 @ 8:34 am.

                Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines

   Officers responded to a residence on Belanger St. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and Jewel Templet was identified as a suspect. According to reports, the victim stated that Templet committed a battery on him, after having a verbal altercation. A warrant check on Templet revealed she held an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Officers also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Templet’s possession. Templet was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

   Kyler Ross was transported from the Lafayette Parish Detention Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the Morgan City Police Department and the 6th Ward City Court.  Ross’ warrants stem from an incident in May that alleges he tampered with an electrical meter and used $41.94 of electricity. Another incident in July alleges that Ross was involved in a domestic altercation and damaged the victim’s property. Ross was booked and incarcerated.


Deonte D. Harris, 20 years of age, Address- Lake Palourde Rd. Amelia, La. was arrested on 08/23/2018 @ 12:40 pm.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Probation Fees

   Deonte Harris was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Harris was booked and incarcerated.


Cherri A. Pennison, 42 years of age, Address- Railroad Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/23/2018 @ 1:14 pm.

   Cherri Pennison was located on Railroad Ave. and placed under arrest for an active warrant she held for 16th Judicial District Court. Pennison was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Ryan P. Payton, 31 years of age, Address- Felterman Lane Patterson, La. was arrested on 08/23/2018 @ 3:12 pm.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines (3cts)

   Ryan Payton was stopped for a traffic violation on LA Hwy 182 and it was determined that he held active warrants for the 6th Ward City Court. Payton was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


William K. Rawls, 56 years of age, Address- Carrol Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/23/2018 @ 5:30 pm.

      Officers responded to the area of LA Hwy 182 and Aycock St. in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. According to reports, the victim stated that another vehicle had crashed into the rear of his vehicle, while he had stopped waiting on another vehicle to turn. Suspect vehicle then fled the area. A description was given out and the vehicle was located on Martin Luther King Blvd. The driver of the vehicle was identified as William Rawls. Reports indicate that Rawls appeared intoxicated and he admitted to taking prescribed medication. Rawls was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which he performed poorly. It was also determined that Rawls driver’s license was suspended. Rawls was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Rawls submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Rawls yielded a .069 g%. Rawls was booked and incarcerated.
