MCPD Patrol Division Make Arrest in Shooting

Jalen A. Walker, 25 years of age, address: Fifth St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/09/2017 @ 10:14 a.m.

 On Saturday, July 8, 2017, @ approximately 11:00 p.m. patrol officers with the Morgan City Police Department responded to the area of Fifth St. in regards to a shots fired complaint. Officers arrived and learned that a physical altercation had taken place and one of the subjects involved discharged a firearm. During the course of the investigation, Jalen A. Walker was identified as a suspect. It was learned that the victims arrived at the residence of Walker. Reports indicate that physical altercation ensued between Walker and the alleged victims. After the altercation, the victims were departing the area when Walker allegedly entered the residence and returned outside with a firearm and shot at the vehicle as it was leaving the area. No one was injured as a result of the discharge of the firearm. The suspected firearm was located during the search and was found to be hidden in a manner to avoid detection and evidence that it was discharged was located. The firearm was found to be reported stolen and a criminal history check indicated that Walker was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to him being a convicted felon. Warrants were prepared for Walker's arrest as a result of the investigation. Walker was located in the area of Fifth St. at 10:14 a.m. and arrested on the active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. Walker was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. The investigation is still ongoing.

MCPD Arrest Report 07/07/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 38 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 07/06/2017:

Richard Domangue 07072017
Richard Domangue, 73 years of age, address: Mark Dr. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/06/2017 @ 2:28 p.m.

Charges: Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault- Child Endangerment Law
                 Domestic Abuse Battery

Kerri D. Brown, 42 years of age, address: Camille Dr. Patterson, La., arrested on 07/06/2017 @ 8:16 p.m.

Charges: Domestic Abuse Battery

Richard Domangue and Kerri D. Brown were located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by patrol officers in June of 2017 when Domangue and Brown were involved in a dispute where each one of the allegedly struck one another. Reports indicate during the disturbance Domangue allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened the victim. A juvenile was present during the disturbance. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Domangue's and Brown's arrest. Domangue and Brown were booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Jerry L. Percle Jr., 49 years of age, address: Canton St. Berwick, La., arrested on 07/06/2017 @ 1:58 p.m.

Charges: Theft over $25,000

The Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division began an investigation in late June of 2017 in regards to stolen equipment from a business in the area of LA 182. According to reports, Jerry L. Percle Jr. was developed as a suspect. Evidence was uncovered during the investigation linking Percle to the crime. Warrants were prepared for Percle’s arrest. Percle, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail on unrelated charges, was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail.

Melvin C. Sylvester Jr., 38 years of age, address: Short St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/06/2017 @ 3:21 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Simple Battery

Melvin C. Sylvester Jr. was located and arrested in the area of Third St. on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division in April of 2017 where the victim alleges that she was attacked by several subjects in the area of Union St. Reports indicate that one of those subjects was identified as Melvin C. Sylvester Jr. Warrants were prepared for Sylvester’s arrest. Sylvester was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Herman T. Solone, 25 years of age, address: Cardinal St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/06/2017 @ 6:38 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 10/11/2016 (2 counts)
                 Warrant: Contempt of Court

Herman T. Solone was located and arrested in the area of Franklin St. on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court.  Solone was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Rose W. Trim, 66 years of age, address: Glenwood St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/03/2017 @ 11:30 a.m.

Charges: Theft by Shoplifting

Patrol officers responded to a local business in the area of LA 182 in regards to a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrived and according to reports, Rose W. Trim was identified as a suspect. Reports indicate that Trim allegedly concealed items in her purse totaling $29.39. Trim was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Charges: Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband into a Penal Facility

The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics and Detectives Divisions began an investigation into a possible introduction of contraband into a penal facility. During the course of the investigation, Shaia Bernauer and Anthony James were developed as suspects. Evidence was uncovered linking Bernauer and James to the crime in an attempt to introduce contraband into the Morgan City Jail. Bernauer was observed leaving the area of the Morgan City Jail at which time she made an improper turn. A stop was initiated and it was learned that her Louisiana Driver’s License was under suspension. Reports indicate that Bernauer admitted to the conspiracy and the package that was going to introduced was recovered. Bernauer was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail. Warrants were prepared to James’ arrest who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail. He was booked on the said charges.

Nicole M. Atkinson was located and arrested in the area of Pecos St. on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Atkinson was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of Roderick St. in regards to drug activity. Officers arrived and made contact with Jessica L. Fears and Charles A. Duval Jr. According to reports, Fears and Duval were found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The area where the incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Duval was also found to hold active warrants for his arrest. Fears and Duval Jr. were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.

Joshua P. Francois, 25 years of age, address: Wren St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/03/2017 @ 10:23 p.m.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of LA 182 swerving from lane to lane cross the center line. A stop was initiated and Joshua P. Francois was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Francois was found to be in an intoxicated state. Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted in which Francois performed poorly. Francois was also found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage. Francois was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail for Chemical Testing. Upon arrival to the Morgan City Jail Francois submitted to Chemical Test which registered .105g% BAC. Francois was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Gail M. Landry, 56 years of age, address: Tut St. Pierre Part, La., arrested on 07/04/2017 @ 12:19 a.m.

Charges: Resisting an Officer

A patrol officer initiated a stop at the Lake End Park.  According to reports, the operator of the vehicle was identified as Gail M. Landry. Landry was acting in a suspicious manner and began to drive off from the officer. The officer ordered Landry to stop several times at which time she refused to comply with the officer. The vehicle was stopped and Gail M. Landry was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

James D. Breaux, 43 years of age, address: Glenwood St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/04/2017 @ 3:06 a.m.

Charges: Driving under Suspension

James D. Breaux was observed by a patrol officer operating a vehicle and was found to be under suspension. Breaux was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Rigoberto Cruz-Barrios, 31 years of age, address: Glenwood St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/04/2017 3:04 a.m.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light in the area of LA 182. A stop was initiated and Rigoberto Cruz-Barrios was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Cruz-Barrios was found not to possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License and officers located an open alcoholic beverage. Cruz-Barrios was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Detectives were working the Lake End Park Detail for the 4th of July festivities when they came in contact with a vehicle entering the park. According to reports, detectives detected a strong odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Shawndrick L. Stevenson Jr., Eldridge M. Lewis Jr., Major Lewis, Edward J. Westly and a juvenile were identified in the vehicle. Reports indicate that officers located suspected marijuana and alprazolam. Stevenson Jr., Lewis Jr., Lewis, and Westly were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.

Darrel Johnson, 48 years of age, address: St. Joseph Ln. Franklin, La., arrested on 074/04/2017 @ 3:37 p.m.

Charges: Possession of Marijuana

Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department while working the Lake End Park Detail for the 4th of July festivities detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from a vehicle. Contact was made with the occupant of the vehicle and Darrel Johnson was identified. Reports indicated that Johnson was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Tradasha L. Brooks and Christopher D. Woods were located and arrested in the area of LA 70 on active arrest warrants held by the 16th Judicial and 6th Ward Morgan City Courts. During the arrest, Brooks and Woods began to use profanities and cause a disturbance. Both subjects were transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.

Dillon M. Mosser, 23 years of age, address: Tupelo St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/05/2017 @ 2:15 a.m.

Charges: Disturbing the Peace

Patrol officers responded to a business in the area of LA 182 in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and according to reports were trying to get all involved to leave the area. Reports indicate that Dillon M. Mosser continued to cause a disturbance and use profanities. Mosser was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

The Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division began an investigation on July 03, 2017 in regards to stolen equipment from a local business in the area of LA 182. According to reports, Jerry L. Percle Jr. was developed as a suspect. Evidence was uncovered during the investigation linking Percle to the crime. Percle was jailed on warrants for Theft over $25,000. The investigation continued and through investigative means, detectives learned that Stephanie Crawford was contacted by Percle and was traveling to another location to move the piece of equipment. Investigators conducted surveillance on Mrs. Crawford at which time she was observed traveling to a location in Ascension Parish and removing the equipment. Investigators with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office assisted Morgan City Police. When Mrs. Crawford entered Morgan City a stop was initiated and Crawford was taken into custody. Investigators recovered a Bob-Cat 418 Mini Excavator valued at $35,000 dollars. The equipment was returned to the owner and Crawford was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated. Warrants were obtained for Percle’s arrest and he was booked and incarcerated into the Morgan City Jail.

Bike Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Seventh St. and the operator was not properly restrained. A stop was initiated and Jessie C. Davis was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Davis’ Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. Davis was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Dequante Wesley, 23 years of age, address: Orange St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/05/2017 @ 2:00 p.m.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed Dequante Wesley in the Shannon Homes Housing Authority. Wesley was barred from entering on Housing Authority Properties. Wesley was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division observed a vehicle being operated in the area of MLK Blvd without a license plate. A stop was initiated and Jerry L. Percle Jr. was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Percle held warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by the patrol division in June of 2017 when a patrol officer initiated a stop due to an improper turn in the area of Pine St. Reports indicate that Percle was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Percle’s arrest. Percle was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Ditch Ave. A stop was initiated and Justin Vosburg was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Vosburg was found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana. Vosburg was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division with the assistance of investigators with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Ditch Ave. According to reports, Gage Ford was identified as a suspect in the investigation and investigators located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Evidence was uncovered that Ford was involved in the illicit sale of illegal narcotics and the suspected marijuana located was destined to be sold. The area where the incident took place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Ford was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Chance Rose, 42 years of age, address: 12th St. Thibodaux, La., arrested on 06/30/2017 @ 8:44 p.m.

                 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                 Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)

The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted an undercover operation involving prostitution. After receiving information in regards to prostitution activity in the Morgan City area investigators made contact with a female later identified as Amy Benoit. According to reports, Benoit and undercover officers negotiated sexual acts for monetary payment. Benoit agreed to meet undercover officers at a local motel in the area of MLK Blvd. Benoit arrived at the local motel with another subject identified as Chance Rose. Reports indicate that the subjects were taken into custody and Benoit was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, alprazolam for which she did not hold a valid prescription for, and drug paraphernalia. Rose was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The area where the incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Benoit
and Rose were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.
