Albert Soto, 63 years of age, Address-Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/21/2015 @ 8:20 pm.

     Officers located Albert Soto in the area of Federal Ave., a local warrants check was done on Soto and it was determined that he held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City.  Soto was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Michael Granger, 63 years of age, Address-Fifth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/21/2015 @ 9:21 pm.

     A patrolling officer in the area of Fifth and Maine St, noticed a vehicle without a license plate light.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Michael Granger was asked to show a valid driver's license.  During the investigation it was determined that Granger's license was suspended and there was no insurance on the vehicle. The officer also noticed an open container of an alcoholic bevearage inside of Granger's vehicle.  Granger  also held an outstanding warrant for the 16th Judicial Court for Criminal Neglect of Family.  Granger was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Departmen for booking and incarceration.

Drug Arrest 04/17/2015

Officers with the patrol division of the Morgan City Police Department  were dispatched to a Motel located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. regarding suspected narcotics activity.  As a result of the investigation, several subjects were located along with various types of illegal narcotics.  Investigators also recovered counterfeit $100.00 bills which were also seized. The arrested persons are:

     The smell of marijuana from the room alerted officers to the suspected illegal narcotics activity taking place.  Officers located several subjects inside the room and were able to apprehend others who were observed leaving the room as officers arrived.  The subjects, Jordy Smith, D'Andre Rivers, Mark Rivera, Jonathon Turnage, Regianna L. Jones, and Xavijuanca Wilson were detained.  Patrol officers gained consent to search the motel room at which time they located what appeared to be over 5 ounces of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II CDS.  Officers requested assistance from Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Investigators and Detectives after securing the scene.  During the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the room and suspects vehicle.  During the subsequent search, over 5 ounces of a suspected Schedule II CDS-Methamphetamine with a street value of over $20,000 was located along with numerous pills of MDMA-Ecstacy, a Schedule I CDS.  Investigators also recovered Schedule III CDS-Xanax along with items determined to be drug paraphernalia.  In addition to the narcotics recovered, detectives located (7) seven counterfeit $100.00 bills which was also seized along with several hundred dollars in U.S. Currency.

     As a result of the items recovered during the investigation, all subjects located were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were interviewed, booked and incarcerated.  Detectives learned during the investigation that some of the suspects are suspected of distributing and manufacturing of counterfeit money within other Louisiana parishes and Mississippi.  Morgan City Police investigators are working with other agencies to determine if additional warrants may be filed.  If you have any information on this or any other crime, please contact the Morgan City Police Department @ 985-384-2310, your local law enforcement agency, or 911.  Stay Safe!

     Officers responded to a complaint of damage to property at a residence in the 7100 block of Highway 182.  Officers arrived and in their investigation learned that a male subject, Stephen Barbour was suspected of breaking a window at that residence then leaving the scene.  Officers searched the area and subsequently located Barbour and through their investigation, obtained evidence linking Barbour with the damage.  Barbour was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. He was later released after posting a cash bond.

     Officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle St. and Highway 182 in regards to a disturbance.  Officers arrived and located a female, Francis Duplechin in an impaired condition.  Duplechin, who appeared highly intoxicated and was accused of causing the disturbance was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.  She was later released after posting a cash bond.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 182 near Redwood without proper headlights.  The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver identified as Brian Kelly.  Kelly was discovered to be operating a vehicle with a supended drivers license and was subsequently placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  He was later released after posting a cash bond.

     A patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fifth St. and Brashear Ave.  During the investigation officers identified Forcell, who was the passenger in the vehicle was found to have outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City.  Forcell was placed under arrest and tranported to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains incarcerated.

     A officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Headland St near Railroad Ave.  Officer Identified Johnson who according to reports fail to stop at a stop sign.  Johnson was also found to have a suspended driver's license.  Johnson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration. He was later released after posting bond.

     Officer responded to a disturbance at a Hwy 182 business.  Officers arrived an observed a large crowd in the parking lot.  While attempting to disperse the crowd officer encountered Percle who was yelling.  Officers were attempting to calm Percle down when Boudreaux shoved officers in attempt to get them away from Percle.  Officers then arrested Boudreaux at which time Percle jumped on one of the officers back.  Both Percle and Boudreaux were found to ben an intoxicated condition.  Both were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

     Officers reponded to a residence on Federal Ave. due to a subject refusing to leave.  Officer learned during the investigation that Kinchen threaten to stab a subject at the residence.  Kinchen admitted that she did make the statement.  Kinchen was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

Antonio Campbell, 27 years of age, Address-Morgan City,La. was arrested on 04/18/2015 @ 8:48 pm.

     Officer stopped a vehicle on Hwy 182 near Roderick St. for suspected illegal window tint.  The driver identified as Antonio Campbell was found to have outstanding warrants for the 16th Judical Court for Possession fo Marijuana.  Campbell was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

     A patrolling officer obsereved Martinez looking into the window of a closed business on Front St.  Officers stopped to investigate and found Martinez to have outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City.  Martinez was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

     Officers observed Mingo driving a vehicle in the area of Brashear Ave. The officer knew Mingo did not have a vaild driver's license.  The officer attempted to stop Mingo as she was pulling into the parking lot of a Brashear Ave. business.  According to reports the officer spoke witht the owner of the vehicle who stated that he did not give Mingo permission to drive the vehilce.  Officer also located a pipe used to smoke illegal narcotics and a small amout of suspected crack cocaine in a purse belonging to Mingo. Mingo was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

    Officers responded to a Second St. business due to a subject wanting to fight with pepole.  Officer were advised that the subject left the area and were given a description of the vehcile. Officer located the vehilce in the area of Uinion St. and identified Williams as the driver.  Williams was found to have a suspended driver's license.  Williams was arrested and transported to Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.

     An Officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light near Federal Ave and Brashear Ave.  The officer stopped the vehicle and idetified Carlson as the driver.  According to reports the officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beveage.  Officers also found an open can of alcohol in Carlson's vehlce.  Carlson was given a field sobriety test which he did poorly on.  Carlson was placed under arrest.  After his arrest suspected Marijuana was located in Carlson's pocket.  Carlson was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was given an intoxilyzer 5000 test with the results indicating .242g%.  Carlson was incarcerated into the Morgan City Police Department Jail.

     Officers were dispatched to a Filmore St. residence to investigate a narcotics complaint. During the investigation they came in contact with a suspect, Shane Richard. In the process, investigators located items determined to be drug paraphernalia. Officers uncovered evidence that the items belonged to Richard. Shane Richard was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Anthony P. Ruffin, 36 years of age, Address-Patterson, La. was arrested on 04/16/2015 @ 9:26 am

Charge: Warrant: Aggravated Burglary

     Anthony Ruffin was located at the Terrebonne Parrish Correctional Facility and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant was result of a complaint filed on 11/05/2014 in which Ruffin is accused of entering a Brownell Homes residence then committing a theft of a cell phone before leaving. He was booked and remains incarcerated.

     On April 14, 2015 Morgan City Police Detectives began an investigation of a theft by fraud from a Youngs Rd. company. It was alleged that two employees of the company had fabricated documents in an effort to  obtain pay. During the investigation, it was determined that the theft orginated in Ascenion Parish. Both suspects are accused of submitting ficticious invoices for time not worked totalling $30,400 for each individual, totalling $60,800.00.  Ascenion Parish authorities were contacted, who, as result of their investigation obtained arrest warrants for the individuals. the suspects Martin Locks and Terrance Lindon were located at the Youngs Rd. company where they were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and awaiting transport to Ascension Parish.

     Officers were dispatched to Fourth St. residence in regards to a battery being commited on a female victim. Officers arrived and learned from the victim that Robert Choate had struck the victim repeatedly. Officers also learned that the victim had struck Choate in an effort to defend herself. Officers located Choate a short distance from the residence. Robert Choate was found to be in an impaired condition. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Dallas Marcantel turned himself into officers at the Morgan City Police Department after learning of a warrant from the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City.  Marcantel was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Police Department jail.  Marcantel was later released after posting bond.

     A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hwy 182 and Roderick St. The driver identifed as Steven Davis could not produce a valid driver's license.  A check found that Davis was driving with a suspended license.  Davis was placed under arrest and tranported to the Morgan City Police Department jail facility where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers responding to a complaint of illegal narcotics in the Pecan St. area located Travis Cain along with several other subjects.  According to reports a suspected hand rolled marijuana cigarette was found by officer. Cain admitted that the suspected marijuana was his.  After his arrest a search of his persons was done at which time officers located more suspected marijuana and items that were determined to be drug paraphernalia.  Cain was transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail facility where he was booked and incarcerated.
