Jewel A. Ross, 31 years of age, Address-N. Verrett St. Amelia, La. was arrested on 03/30/2015 @ 1:07 pm. 

Charge: Warrant- Principal to Simple Arson

     Jewel A. Ross, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail facility as a result of an investigation into a clandestine lab which was discovered on March 23, 2015. The lab in subsequent explosion led to injuries of another. The Morgan City Police Department received an arrest warrant from the State of Louisiana Fire Marshalls Office charging Jewel A. Ross with Principal to Simple Arson as a result of that incident. She was booked and remains incarcerated.

Michael L. Marshall Jr., 37 years of age, Address- Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/30/2015 @ 1:27 pm.

Charge: Stop Sign Violation
               Driving under Suspension

     Patrolling officer observed a vehicle disregard the stop sign at Victor Blvd. and Myrtle St. The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver who was identified as Michael L. Marshall Jr. It was discovered that Marshall was operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Demetria Y. Francis, 36 years of age, Address-Waveland, Ms. was arrested on 03/31/2015 @ 12:15 am. 

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS- Marijuana (2nd Offense)
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
     
     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on US 90 with improper lighting. The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver. Upon conducting the investigation, the officer, according to reports observed both occupants to appear extremely nervous. A narcotics canine was deployed and ultimately led to the recovery of suspected marijuana from the vehicle. Demetria Francis was identified as the admitted owner of the illegal substance. She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

Aaron L. Walker, 26 years of age, Address- Brownell Homes Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/31/2015 @ 12:49 am. 

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Appear- Driving under Suspension

     Aaron L. Walker was located by officers at Teche Regional Medical Center and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Antoine Webb, 32 years of age, Address- Commerce City, Co. was arrested on 03/31/2015 @ 1:34 am. 

Charge: Driving under Suspension
               Speeding 46 m.p.h/35 m.p.h. zone

     A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle on LA Hwy 182. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling at 46 m.p.h. /35 m.p.h. zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Antoine Webb, who could not produce a valid drivers license. It was discovered that the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. He was arrested, transported to the Morgan City Police Department, where he was booked and released after posting a cash bond.

     The Morgan City Police Department began an investigation (7) seven months ago to curtail the sales of illegal narcotics from the Morgan City area such as cocaine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana along with other controlled substances.  The investigation was assisted by the Opelousas Police Department, Vermillion Parish Sheriff's Department, Patterson Police Department, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department and Franklin Police Department.  The investigation resulted in numerous arrest warrants which were obtained identifying many indiividuals allegedly involved in the sales of illegal narcotics from the Morgan City area. 

     Beginning at daylight, March 27, 2015 at approximately 6:00am, the Morgan City Police Department with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force, Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department, Berwick Police Department, Patterson Police Department, Franklin Police Department and the Louisiana State Police,who also provided air support, began the apprehension of the individuals wanted as a result of the investigation.      Donvin Mingo was arrested after turning himself in onstanding warrants to officer at the Morgan City Police Department.  Mingo was booked and remains incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department Jail Facility.

                 Disturbing the Peace by Fighting 
 
     Officers responded to a Hwy 182 address because of a disturbance.  Officer located and identified Davey Gober as a suspect in the disturbance.  According to reports Gober and another person began to argue outside of the residence during the argument Gober struck the other person and then began to fight with him.  Gober was placed under arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail facility where he was booked and remains incarcerated.

Charges: Illegal Carrying of a weapon
                Disturbing the Peace by Alarming the public
     Officers responded to a Hwy 182 business after a complaint of a subject having a weapon.  Officer located and identified a suspect Travis Burgess.  According to report officer detained Burgess near his vehilce where they also located two guns.  Officers then learned through thier investigation that Burgess had been involved in a disturbance with several subjects at the business after going outside Burgess returned with a weapon to retrive his phone. Burgess was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail facility where he was booked and remains incarcerated.

Charles D. Anthony, 70 years of age, Address-Short St. Alley Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/28/2015 @ 9:21am

Charge: Warrant: Distribution of Schedule II CDS-Crack Cocaine
               Warrant: Violation of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Law (Drug Free Zone)

     On March 27, 2015, the Morgan City Police Department conducted "Operation April Fool" in an effort to target street level narcotics violators in the Morgan City area.  In a continuing effort, three more subjects were located and booked into the Morgan City jail facility as a result of warrants obtained during that operation.  Mark Webb and Charles Anthony were located and placed under arrest without incident.  Keith Singleton, after being spotted by a patrolling officer attempted to flee and was captured in the Eleventh St. area of Morgan City.  All were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and remain incarcerated.  The operation which began several months ago is an ongoing effort to target the illegal sales of dangerous drugs in the area. The Morgan City Police Department will continue to pursue and ultimately arrest those violators identified in that investigation.

     Morgan City officers located Page Mabe and Christopher Haynes at a Sixth St. address in Morgan City and placed then under arrest on outstanding warrants for the Sixteenth Judicial District for failing to comply with conditions of drug court.  They were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

     Anthony Harris, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Police jail facility were booked on oustanding warrants for failing to appear and pay fines in the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City.  He was booked and remains incarcerated.

               Improper LIghting

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being operated with improper lighting in the area of Railroad Ave. near Myrtle St. and stopped to speak with the driver.  The driver, Caffery Williams was discovered to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license and was placed under arrest.  Officers also located an open container of alcoholic beverage in his possession inside the vehicle.  Williams was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Thomas W. Giroir, 24 years of age, Address-Canton St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 03/29/2015 @ 1:10am

Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery

     Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Ridgeway Dr. residence and learned that Thomas Giroir and a female had been involved in a verbal dispute which became physical.  The victim, who advised she was struck by Giroir exhibited evidence of a battery.  Giroir was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Carlos A. Figueroa Garcia, 47 years of age, Address-Terrebone St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/29/2015 @ 1:58pm

Charge: Theft by Shoplifting (Value $21.65)

     Officers were dispatched to a pharmacy located on Marguerite St. in Morgan City in regards to a shoplifter.  Officers arrived and were advised that a detained subject, Carlos Garcia was detained after he was observed committing the theft of a watch from the store valued at $21.65.  Garcia was arrested and the watch recovered.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a theft from a Walnut Drive residence and began an investigation.  Detectives were able to identify a suspect in the theft at Wesley Bass who was accused of committing  the theft of gasoline and marine electronics from another Walnut Dr.  residence.  Bass also identified as a suspect in the unauthorized use of a marine vessel taken from an additional Walnut Drive residence whilch he allegedly used in commission of the reported theft.  Investigators developed information and obtained a search warrant for the Walnut Dr. residence occupied by Wesley Bass.  Investigators executed the search warrant and located four suspects, Bass, Tanner Aucoin, Bree Aucoin and Kimberly Evans.  During the investigation, detectives located suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.  All were arrested.  Bass was also arrested on warrants which were obtained by detectives as a result of the investigation.  The subjects were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.  The investigation is continuing and should anyone have any information regarding this or any other crime is urged to contact the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division @ 985-380-4605.

     Officers patrolling the city wharf located a subject sleeping inside a vehicle and stopped to investigate.  The subject, Desmon Cousins was found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics and was subsequently arrested.  He was transported to the Morgna City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers were dispatched to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived and learned that Austin Cox had been involved in the disturbance and during the disturbance had placed the victim in fear of receiving a battery.  Austin Cox was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incacerated.

     An officer patrolling a school zone area near Brashear Ave. and Federal Ave. observed a speeding vehicle within the school zone and determined the vehicle to be traveling at 30mph in a 15mph zone.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Demarcus Skipper.  Passengers Javien Francis along with a 15 year old juvenile were also identified.  Officers determined that Javien Francis was wanted on outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City.  He was placed under arrest.  Officers also located, with the assistance of a narcotics canine dog suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.  Both Francis and Skipper were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

               Hit & Run Driving

     Officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Bowman St. and Federal Ave. Officers arrived and located a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.  The pedestrian was transported to a medical facilty with minor injuries.  Witnesses described a suspect vehicle which had left the scene.  investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle and the driver, Alma Morales.  Morales admitted to her involvment in the incident and was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.

     Officers located Gerard D. Deshotel at a Highway 182 apartment complex and placed him under arrest on an outstanding warrant dated 1996 accusing Deshotel of issuing worthless checks in the amount of $38.98 to a local business.  Deshotel was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Sixteenth Judicial District Court for failing to appear in court.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Principal to  Hit & Run Driving

     Officers responded to a Hit & Run vehicle crash which was reported at a local business located on Highway 182.  Officers learned that a vehicle had struck another in the parking lot and had fled the scene.  During the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle along with the suspected driver, Robert Gussman III and a passenger, Ambria Vidos.  Officers questioned the pair regarding their involvment in the vehicle crash,  however both denied involvement and refused to cooperate.  Ambria Vidos, the reported passenger in the vehicle attempted to impede the investigation by providing false information however, when confronted with other evidence, admitted to officers that she was indeed a passenger in the vehicle.  Robert Gussman, who was identified as the driver along with Vidos were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

     Officers responded to a Highway 182 convenience store in regards to a fight.  Officers arrived and learned that two females, Lia Lipari and Scarlett Burkart had been involved in a verbal dispute which led to a physical altercation.  The confrontation caused customers to alert store employees who then reported the incident to the Morgan City Police Department.  Burkart and Lipari where both arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerted.
